this girl I know (I totally meant to tell her about this forum, but it just now slipped my mind!! man I'm mad) BUT, she has a 98 auto with 47k on it, and she was trying to talk me into buying it last night. well, as you all know, I turn 16 tomorrow and won't be getting a 240 til next spring, because of winter coming up and no cash!! she told me she would let me make payments on it...I chuckled. I know I wouldn't be able to keep up with payments, especially since I"m 16 (and my mom said if I get another car, start paying my own insurance) which I am totally willing to do. but the girl wants 12k for it. I'm not asking if this is a good deal or anything, but I forgot to ask if it was SE and if it had ABS and/or LSD on it. did they make any non-SE in 97-98?? all of the 97 and 98's on here are SE's if I'm not mistaken. well i was just curious, sorry it's a little long.

man... this car sounds nice, althou the auto tranny has to go... but those year's s14's had the nice aggressive slant lights...
hhmm if its a decent price, i'd say go for it, and then when u run into a bit of money later on do a tranny swap

not positive, but i think there were no base 97-98. that aside, 12k is too much

I have a 98 non-SE (second owner). It doesn't have LSD and I believe ABS was optional from the dealer (mine doesn't have ABS). No rear spoiler, no sunroof (mine's an aftermarket one that the first owner decided to get), no personal lamps in the front (dunno what they're called), no lumbar adjustment in the seats, and no fog lights. Wiper speed controls are different (I think), and it has 15" wheels instead of 16". That's all I remember right now.

If you really want a 240SX, I think you should save your money and wait for an opportunity to get one with manual transmission. Also you'd be able to possibly make some performance mods with the money saved instead of being stuck with a stock automatic 240 from the lack of money.

thanks. I thought they made base models, like yours Danio, but I have never seen one. and I am not buying her car, I am waiting til next spring when it starts to warm up. by then I"ll have around 5k + whatever my car sells for. (91 Sentra XE) which won't be much, but a little. I was thinking of a 95 240 SE OR my dads 86 300 ZX Turbo. thinking the 240 just because more reliability and newer, but thinking the Z cause it would be cheaper and i'ts my dad's. so I'd get it hella cheap. he already said he would sell it to me, but I'm still debating. it's a nice car, but more than likely a 240.

####, don't get me wrong, i love 240's, but if i saw a really good deal on a 300zx tt i would go for it, even though i don't really like the 86 body style 2 much.

danio is right, there are base (no se or le) models of the 97-98. I have a base 98 with no lsd or abs , but it did have a sunroof and spoiler, also no fogs. But most importantly, it was a five speed.

Oh, and before you buy a 240 zexel, or a 300z, check out the insurance. Mines ridiculous and I'm 21 with a clean driving record. I don't even want to think about how much I'd be paying if I was 16.

yeah, that's why I mentioned me having to start paying for my own insurance when I get another car. how much is yours?? I also didn't take Drivers Ed, but I have that student discount thing above 3.0 or wahtever you have to have. I may take drivers ed next spring or summer just to take down my insurance. I was also thinking of an Eclipse GSX...but I'll probably stick with Nissan!!

If I was ever going to stray from nissan, it would be straight to toyota. I think they have a lot in common really...

Then again, do you think that's ever gonna happen? HEEEEEELLL no! haha, Nissan 4 life

12 Grand is a bit too much for a car you'll probably wanna do an engine swap on, it's a good thing you didn't get it. I would suggest getting the '95 or even an earlier year so that you have the extra money to work with. Trust me, once you get into performance and speed, there is no getting out. Or so it is for me.

12 grand is too much for a young girl's car. if you want a reliable car, buy it from someone over 40. they maintain them better.

no offence ladies, but the average female does not maintain her car very well.

Right. That's why I'm not an average female . I agree with you there, a 100% as a matter of fact. I'm glad I like cars so much.
