I'm thinking of upgrading my sound system. I don't want to take up my trunk space cuz I need it, you know, for tires n girls.
I figure it would be really awesome if I could use the spare tire well in the hatch for the amp + sub, that way it leaves the trunk flat.
Has anybody done this, and if so, can someone link me a thread please? I couldn't find anything.
Otherwise I'll just design something that can be easily removed from the car.

I built an amp rack out of mdf and shaped it to fit the spare tire well. Then I'm using a truck box for the sub. Fits very well on my trunk and the sub is easily removable.

How many tires and girls do you plan on transporting at the same time, and will the girls be alive? I have a big dual 12in sub box in the hatch and can fit 1 17x9 wheel back there and 4 235/40/17 in the back seat, and 1 5ft4 and about 124lb?? Live female in the passengers seat.

how shitty would that sound to have an amp and a sub built into your spare tire well, with stuff piled on top of it..

Holy shit really? You can fit a live female AND a full set of tires? Daaaaaaamn I knew the hatch had space, but not female AND tire space space!

You have a good point. I might just do a regular box just because of this.

If you build it right, you don't have to worry about anything physically damaging it. I had my amp mounted in the spare tire well. For my box, I custom built, so that it could be installed where the factory jack was in an S14. Never had an issue.
