Ka24de question.. Im looking for anyone that can tell me the total advance timing after setting the base 18-20 degrees. In other words if you set base timing and plug tps back in, then slightly rev up and adjust timing light to read what it has fully advanced at like 5000 or so. Only because when i set base timing at 15 degrees ish, if i plug tps back in and rev it up, it advances all the way to around 45 or so. And that just seems kinda high for total advance to me.. But maybe im still in v8 thought. Thanks for any help

1. V8s with under 10:1 compression often use 45* total timing advance for low load situations. the "old school thought" was to use a 36* of total WOT timing then have the vacuum advance (before computers were around) to throw on another 10* total for 46. thats pre-90's era thought.
2. If you follow the FSM then you can blame the FSM later

they what? define they. Do you mean the KA engine? The FSM should say. I dont know off the top of my head or I would just tell you. But I am not sure what THEY refers to anyways.
Just follow the FSM....

you dont rev anything. disconnect tps, use the timing light to see where your timing is at then advance or retard your timing by twisting the dizzy.
