I'm going to be attaching my rear overfenders soon and i really dont want to use pop rivets. I'm looking at using rivet nuts instead, hopefully in the M5/M6 bolt size. The problem i'm running into is that i dont know what grip range i need to buy for the rivets to work properly.

Does anyone know how thick the sheet metal on the 240sx is and know what grip range i should go with?

The M5 rivet nuts im looking at have a minimum grip range of .50mm and the M6 rivet nuts have a minimum grip range of .70mm. I would prefer to use the M6 nuts but i want to make sure that the sheet metal on the rear quarter panels is thick enough for these nuts to work before i drill a 10mm hole in my quarter panel.

I use the M6 nutserts everywhere on my 240 without any issue.
you will be just fine using them on the quarters.

Ok thanks!

From what i have gathered from the interwebs the sheet metal on the exterior of the 240 is 18 gauge, which according to a chart i found on wikipedia is 0.0500" (1.27mm) thick.

The exact rivet nuts im looking at have a grip range of 0.70mm - 4.20mm, so like you said, there shouldnt be an issue.
