Can someone put a value on these two 240's?

1. 1993 red 240SX, moonroof, leather, power everything, "loaded", 32k miles....$4950. I reckon like $3950 is a better deal, even that sounds a little steep.

2. Another red 240, couldn't tell what options, smashed front fender (didn't look to be too bad- I highly doubt any chassis damage...looks like someone took a baseball bat to it actually), and judging from the front bumper it's a KA24E. Sounds like the perfect platform for a Sileighty to me. Dunno miles, only mod I saw was hood pins :blah: , probably worth no more than a grand, right?

what are your build plans, if any?
We kinda need to know what your intentions are before any recommendations could be made....

the first car, however, sounds like a prime candidate for a 5spd swap and a KA-T setup IF (big if) the car really only has 32k... which is highly suspect.

edit: I just realized that you said "first car". disregard build plans, most people thrash their first car, that's just the way it is. It's a newfound freedom that it'd be stupid not to have some fun with ;) Get the 93, throw like $500 at it in maintinience stuff (TC bushings, belts, timing chain service if not done already, new dampers, fluids, etc etc etc). Then...

Learn to drive. Don't try to drift, don't try to race, just learn how the car works. Learn the physics, learn what the car does when you over/under steer. Do all this first and you'll have a leg up on 99% of your peers, from there u can go where u want :D

It depends on were you are. Personally I don't think a s13 with on 32k for $4000 is a bad price. I also depends on the type of shape it's in. I assume no rust, and everything else is machanically sound? I'd pay $4000 for it. But thats me. Is it worth that much to you? And what way are you gonna go with it?

As for the second one. It would depend on mileage and how much damage is ACTUALLY done to the front. Also rust is still a gig factor(at least by me).

I payed $1600 for my 89 83k no rust with dented up fender and hood and an awsome interior.

Red is a color for chicks, homos or Ferraris. That being said, I wouldn't pay more than $3k for the clean copy.

#2 should be cheaper, it sounds like its another 1k? Hell no, get the cheaper if you want to do a sil-80. Get #1 if you want a clean car, although 5k$ is WAY to much for a 93, even with those miles, even 4k is a ass rape. 3k-3,300 would be the max for #1.

I'm not planning to bring any FI into the equation...if anything, just boltons that free up some power (I/H/E). And maybe some exterior touches, like a front lip on the '93 (looks too bare without it IMO) and JDM taillights. Painting the roof just popped into my mind today; of course I've seen it done, always had a mixed opinion about it.

The thing is, my parents were planning to spend up to 11k for a first car; unfortunately, their idea of a good first car was a 4 cyl Grand Am or Cavalier. Their biggest peeve is mileage, so finding an S13 with only 32k miles on it was a miracle.

32K for mileage seems very suspicious...my 95 has about a 100k on it and it was stuck at the auction house probably for some time before they sold it.

Well I did look at a '96 Camaro with under 20k on the odometer (lord LT1s sound amazing at WOT), so it's possible, though highly unlikely. I'm going to take a look at it sometime in the next week or so (it's about an hour away from me), I'll see what's up.

The clip was a misprint, the car actually has 82k miles, and rust. And they are STILL asking 5k for it.

with only 32K I would likely pay 4-4.5K for that car. but with rust?? $00.00. Cars with rust are NOT good buys.

Even if the car had 32k miles on it I wouldn't trust it any more that I would trust a 100k car. Yeh its been driven less but there is plenty of damage that can be done to a car by storing it improperly.

if ur parents are worried about mileage, then buy a shell and get an sr and tell ur parents it has around 40k miles on it - thats way less than 11gs so im sure they wont mind

Finding a decent car in NE Ohio is next to impossible. I stopped to look at a '93 3000GT today, looked real clean, $3100. I called them up and there was 180k miles on it. :rant:

If was to do it all again, I would have bought a car with like 200K+ miles, good body, and no rust, and swapped in a low mileage s14 SR.

In the project car world, finding a clean, non-wrecked rolling chassis is really the important part. Most of the other crap like bushings, and engine, and stuff are all going to be replaced anyways.
