We are currently in the process of prototyping a new dash console piece for the s14's, along with a shifter trim plate and shift knob. these are not lay-overs or stick on pieces these are full carbon fiber replacements. We are thinking of ditching the ash tray and installing a quarter din slot for turbo timers and locating three gauges at the top above the cd player.
In addition to this piece we are going to develope a pop in piece for the s13 that replaces the center vents and houses 3 gauges with brows on top for shading from the sun.
Let me know what you think and if there are any other carbon part you would like to see for the cars. My Manufacturer relies on us for product development and I would like to know what you guys want.. As I am buying a 240 I obviosly have an interest in what carbon parts are available for them.
these are others we are working on...
s14
fuse box cover
SR20det valve cover plate for DI
lower front air splitter with adjustable turnbuckles
trunk lid
front cowel cover (between headlights and radiator)
Radio Bezel replacement
Shifter Bezel replacement
top steering column replacement with Gauge pod
S13
Center vent Gauge pod (3 Gauges)
top steering column replacement with Gauge pod
front cowel cover (between headlights and radiator)

why? for show cars? sounds good for those guys i guess
CF people take it too far and it gets mega ridiculous
unless you are REALLy out ot save weight there is no logical reason to swap to CF but to impress judges at gay ass car shows
i think the ONLY thing really worth making is gauge pods because gauges are useful for most people
same goes for splitters and air damn shit because that's actually useful for people who track their cars.
dashes and interior parts..tear that shit out if you REALLLY care about weight savings.

well it could be good for the people who have swapped to m/t and need the trim piece around that or people that lost, broken or didnt have the trim pieces in the first place. But the yea the gauge pods are worth it

I would think that if you are going to replace a piece and add functionality to it then your ahead of the game.... yeah its alot lighter if you cram your gauges into the vent, but what happens when you drop the peddle?? they come flying out... almost 50% of the cars that I look into the stock bezel is cracked or something is wrong with it. this also offers a nice place for three gauges a Din sized deck and a 1/4 din turbo timer or other... Maybe it should be flat for an afc or avcr? I don't know but there are virtually no carbon parts out there for 240's that are worth anything that I have found.. I like to go fast but I also don't want to ride around in a tin can with wiring and electrical tape hanging out everywhere... this is a much cleaner and appealing solution.... :coold:

you referring to my post?
im all for gauge pods
my gauges (making my own pod) is going in the center s13 air vents (i have no AC/heater) somigh was well use the space
most people keep that stuff so its useful for this
there are lots of CF parts for 240sx, just not in the USA. haha
tons in japan if you know where to look.
also if its din sized, gotta be 52mm gauges iirc.
60 wont fit
i personally hate 52mm. 60mm imo is the way to go.

Best weight saving method, is a sign that pops up when you roll your window down and says get the salad.

I would definitley buy the s14 bezel pieces,,mine are all cracked and painted black,,how long till you have these for sale? website?

well, if you have no radio, you can fit 4 60mm gauges in the 2x DIN slot in a kind of staggered configuration... a panel like that would be useful to me.

I'm pretty sure something like that weighs less then a carbon fiber bezel.

If you could make something like that for an s14 i'd buy it....Whenever I pull a turbo out of my ass...

If have no dash, but instead I have a sheet of aluminium (like a funnycar) it saved 60lbs of heater cores(2 of them) and all the ac/ radio/vents/ Fans all that crap is gone plus the weight of the dash(4-6lbs not as much as one would think) but I said screw conventional, and saved 75lbs+ , and I can probably fit 60-80 gauges maybe more, any where on my Al dash. CF is over rated, there is a reason why dragsters and funny cars use thin sheets of aluminium rather the CF, but If you want the car to look cool , then go for it. I myself am looking for a cf seat for my car. I am not looking for pading on it though, I am beond being a weight freak, and think cf is good, but it depends on "what it is" that is made of CF.

The Parts would not be ready for 2 months at least..like I said were prototyping them right now... I'm basically polling to find out whats wanted and whats not... alot of parts are obvious. As for a website, being thatI am part owner of TBracing didn't want to plug our site and upset anyone with commercial advertising here. But if you would like to see example of the quality of the work you can look at the already developed products we have for the WRX.http://www.tbracing.com/cc.html

S13
Center vent Gauge pod (3 Gauges)
top steering column replacement with Gauge pod
front cowel cover (between headlights and radiator)
I wouldn't do the center vent unless you can get it for less than $150 (cuz there's a guy that makes one on here that is really nice and there angled, but not CF)
steering wheel column!!!! that one would be nice...although I'd rather it be made of abs plastic..
front cowel cover? you mean like this? http://www.raretrick.com/index.asp?cat=693&Page=1&Display=Yes&Back=Listings&ProductsID=6517 If so, why in CF, seems everyone uses some type of metal, maybe just cuz it's cheaper....
EDIT: that concept guage pod you have is pretty nice...

i think its for people who can afford it. and well, frankly, 240 community is full of cheap bastards =)
but, if i had the money, i'd buy it ;) i have a thing for carbon fiber, just not the money... yet.

yeah, unfortunatly carbon parts usually carry a decent price tag, but these are just about the only carbon parts thatI have ever seen that warrent the associated cost... I mean Carbon Concept makes a mean carbon parts.. they have got this stuff down. never had a quality problem with anything we make with them. if ever there is an issue about a flaw in a part, its replaced ASAP. I'm not trying to hype these parts up, or say they are cheap. I'm saying that there's no readily available carbon parts for those who want them, and we want to supply the best. These are the best you will find. Period. I'd stake my name on it.

I'm am very interested in the "front cowel cover" or cooling panel. Could you make it scuplted like the Garage Defend one. Not a cut-out sheet of CF.

I've got a relatively simple one, how about a solid panel replacement for the gauge cluster, either to probide a background for a Stack Meter or for people who want to install their own gauge setup instead of the stock one. Also, how about a valve cover for the KA?

shit son, im a CF WHORE!!!!!! ill take one of each for the 240!!!
i esspecialy like that center vent gauge mount!
and i defenetly woul dlike a valve cover for the KA, i will even send u one for R&D if i can get one free ;) lol
