so sunday I got fucked royaly.. just finished a successful and surprising dyno run. got called out to race and accepted the challenge.

so about 70mph in on a un busy road my hood comes up and smacks the windshield and hood. I forgot that my main hood latch wasn't latched and the secondary gave out at the wind/speed.

so yes I got fucked in this deal, but luckily(as if) the windshield didn't break, just developed this slow spider crack that gets longer by the day.

heres what the hood looked like after some massaging and 1 replacement latch(on left right bolt is seized and haven't been able to remove yet) so the right hinge is bent but still working.

so I need a new hood, the worst of my problems right?? wrong, apparently the fucker didn't break my windshield thinking in part because I hacked up the under supports. but it smacked my roof kinda hard.

well no big deal right?? so I go to a reputable dent repair place and I was floored as the fellow told me I need a whole new roof. he said I could repair this one, but it could get hot, and pop off whatever plastic/bondo is used to make it smooth.

he said I would need to cut off the old one and weld on a new roof. I asked just for the labor and he said 1k before paint. :duh:

anyone have similar roof issues before? iam thinking iam going to try and not replace this first and see what happens.

it is "oil canning" in one spot in the rear left part. he said the metal is stretched that's why this is happening am I that real fuckd??

I took some high def pics for better clarity.

Go back to that same shop and tell the dude that you spoke to to quit smoking dope and trying to fuck people over.

I work in a body shop, have been for some years. A couple years back, we got a car that was from Oklahoma. Every flat surface that faces up to the sky got royally fucked from hail damage.
It took some time and a lot of massaging, but when we were done, no one would have guessed that it was involved in a hail storm. Nothing was replaced except for the windshield. You don't want to leave the dents the way that they are, they need to be pulled out quite a bit so the least amount of bondo is used. If those dents were to be packed full of bondo, then yea, there is a possibility that it could "pop out".

I would personally avoid big name places that do body work. Go to a "hole in the wall" place...Several places, and get some quotes. The damage isn't all that terrible and the bigger the name of the business, the more money you'll dish out. There are honest people out there, you just need to find them.
Look at the building's location, the employee(s) dress attire and pay attention to how some one approaches and addresses you with conversation.

Get 2 separate quotes. One for just the roof, and one for both the roof and hood. It may be cheaper to do just the roof, and buy a new Sil hood.

I hope that some of this was/is helpful news for you.

You could do a rag top! But seriously go with what kruked said and find a whole in the wall shop that isn't there to screw people over. I've had the best experience with small shops in the past.

Right now I'm painting my car. My car has a sunroof with rust around it, so I'm replacing the roof skin with a mint nonsunroof skin from a parts car. Since you have to replace the front windshield anyway, you might want to just remove the rest of the glass and replace the whole roof skin.

Hey that happened to me 4 years ago. Except I was only going like 40 mph and It didn't crack the windshield/

Ditched my hood and got another locally for $40 and pushed the dent out of the roof from the inside.

I don't know if I'd pay to have someone cut my roof off at any point in my life. that just seems dumb

A PDR (paintless dent removal) guy might be able to fix it.
