The engine bay is now clean HOWEVER I don't have any pictures because while I was cleaning it the hose I was using produced a hole and shot out a fountain onto my phone....and ruined it haha, Just my luck.

Got a SOHC power steering line from a friend and it looks like it will fit nicely onto the 1uz, considering it goes on the passenger side.
Waiting on the SOHC P/S return line so it looks a bit better.

Using a bell housing adapter and custom flywheel pushes the trans back just a little bit...It needs to be extended to disengage the clutch properly.

So I had to purchase photobucket plus for unlimited bandwith or it would basically delete all my photos.
The past few days have been annoying with the power steering:
I needed the SOHC return line, but someone gave me the return line,
SOHC pump, and high pressure line for $20. The return line had a kink
I tried fixing it, but that didn't work out.
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii131/pballa88/CA3EB1B5-FFF0-4FB6-995D-869BE1E76B64_zpsqszv3cdw.jpg (http://s263.photobucket.com/user/pballa88/media/CA3EB1B5-FFF0-4FB6-995D-869BE1E76B64_zpsqszv3cdw.jpg.html)
I ended up going to the junkyard to hopefully find a SOHC 240sx and sure enough I found a pretty damn clean two-tone.

After I installed the new serpentine belt I found something odd about the alternator. The connector was an oval instead of a circular shape like the harness shows. So I found out my engine was a 1992 1uz and not a 1993 1uz. So now I have to return the 93 alternator and purchase a 92 1uz alternator.

However I do need to adjust my engine mount. Its leaning too much on the passenger side and causing the P/S pulley to hit the battery tray (I will have to grind this out).

Looking good mate!
I made up this bad boy to hold the throttle cable:
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-RgzexcZA-tc/UrlkaVLZjxI/AAAAAAAAFW0/q48wLJI9RQ4/s912/20131224_132159.jpg

And the factory plastic cover hides it all away.

Hopefully this helps! (stock throttle cable bracket was useless for me).

For the past week I have had a little trouble aligning everything and bolting it up so I haven't posted here in a bit.
The update:
Cut the shifter with a grinder about and inch or so and now it sits perfect.

Then I was having trouble putting the engine in the right spot. If I moved it to the Transmission crossmember MIDDLE Holes(pictured)
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii131/pballa88/1E72BAB3-6BB3-41DD-8210-684BC82162DF_zpsbbrbjjqr.jpg (http://s263.photobucket.com/user/pballa88/media/1E72BAB3-6BB3-41DD-8210-684BC82162DF_zpsbbrbjjqr.jpg.html)
The engine mounts wouldn't align with the subframe holes. Blurry but you get the idea.
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii131/pballa88/845DE198-B9AA-4DB3-A848-00357D2E98C1_zpszcfbtszi.jpg (http://s263.photobucket.com/user/pballa88/media/845DE198-B9AA-4DB3-A848-00357D2E98C1_zpszcfbtszi.jpg.html)
Then I contacted Brett Collins about my issue and he said that the transmission crossmember should be bolted onto the last holes on the chassis. However, I was only able to get one side. The other side of the crossmemeber can only reach the middle bolt on the opposite side. In which it would make the crossmember at a diagonal.
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii131/pballa88/266BC963-8F98-4A9F-958E-CDB3B927AB7D_zpsf99ythxc.jpg (http://s263.photobucket.com/user/pballa88/media/266BC963-8F98-4A9F-958E-CDB3B927AB7D_zpsf99ythxc.jpg.html)
Another issue I was having was that the engine was rocking back and forth on the steering rack. In order to fix this I put 5 washers on each bolt which lifted it off the steering rack and the engine mounts sit perfect.
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii131/pballa88/3835A19F-67D3-440B-BEE1-9E3E57F9FDE9_zpsunxyqwzz.jpg (http://s263.photobucket.com/user/pballa88/media/3835A19F-67D3-440B-BEE1-9E3E57F9FDE9_zpsunxyqwzz.jpg.html)
Putting washers on the engine mount bolts obviously raised the engine. So I had to test if my hood still closed. It does which was great but it hits ever so slightly so I will have to cut some metal pieces out on the hood which wont be an issue.
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii131/pballa88/C2D2F74F-1DAE-4682-B3B4-18A184365347_zps1ljsgnas.jpg (http://s263.photobucket.com/user/pballa88/media/C2D2F74F-1DAE-4682-B3B4-18A184365347_zps1ljsgnas.jpg.html)
The engine is finally bolted into its final position, but now I need to drill the transmission crossmember holes a little bigger in order for it to align.

A good friend Brandon helped save me some money without having to purchase a K&N Intake. The stock Intake Hose comes with a plastic resonator on the bottom that is kind of in the way. So we cut the resonator off and used aluminum and a hot glue gun to block the hole where the resonator was.

I bought the engine with all the accessories for the swap and everything was from Brett Collins. Weird how you had to remove the brake booster. At first my engine was hitting it but after I put in the washers on the engine mounts it was perfect.
It wont but up at all? Because you don't need ALL of the bolts to go through the trans.

Not entirely but i think the new longer base with the slots are for the ability to shift the engine to clear the brake booster, or run with a stock driveshaft
basically bought the kit from brett now, also introduced him to Bob's Drift Office over here and they might be hashing out a deal pending how the rest of my swap goes, im waiting on a clutch bearing extender now but that should be the last of it before the trans goes in and they measure out a driveshaft, when that's ordered they'll be wiring up a new harness to the vipec v44 I got ... hopeing for 270 hp

You mean the throwout bearing adapter when you say the clutch bearing extender? 270hp stock would be awesome, let alone the tune.

Finally towed my car back to my house after being wired. Trying to diagnose a POSSIBLE seized engine: I tried to start it and hand crank it but it wont budge at all.
Today I decided to take the spark plugs out and spray some PB blaster down onto the pistons I let them soak for 1hour...and tried to crank by hand and it wont move at all.
I noticed my battery was only at 12.2 volts so I decided to jump it with my daily to see if it would give it more power to turn the flywheel. I tested it at 13.8volts while it was being jumped and that still wasn't enough.
I can hear the starter just clicking every time its either hitting the teeth and its so seized that its not budging OR the starter is jammed.
Next test is to spin the flywheel with a flat head, hoping the starter is jammed on the flywheel teeth... Wish me luck.

When I took off the intake manifold to see the starter I realized I would have to take off the transmission to reach the starter bolts due to the adapter plate location.
I loosened every transmission bolt except for the very top bolt which I couldn't get because I didn't have enough room.
Once I loosened the bolts I figured I should try to crank the engine by hand and this happened: (Click to view)
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii131/pballa88/th_4908AECD-F838-49F1-975C-EA44B702B885_zpsklttigix.mp4 (http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii131/pballa88/4908AECD-F838-49F1-975C-EA44B702B885_zpsklttigix.mp4)
In other words I was able to crank the engine by hand. MY ENGINE WAS FREE!!
Next on the list:
-Take off transmission
-Inspect what was jamming what
-Buy a new starter while I have it out
-Install everything and get her running.

09-26-2014, 11:08 PM
BUT now for some bad news...
My buddy helped me take out the transmission and inspect everything:
The starter was getting stuck between the KA bell housing and flywheel so that's why I wasn't able to turn over the engine.
As you can see the top right of the starter is all messed up from the bell housing.
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii131/pballa88/64D6B0AA-8653-4DD3-B93C-6286EA085AEB_zps25k33939.jpg (http://s263.photobucket.com/user/pballa88/media/64D6B0AA-8653-4DD3-B93C-6286EA085AEB_zps25k33939.jpg.html)
I also still need to take a picture of where we notched the KA transmission.
After purchasing a new starter and grinding down the starter gears we tried installing the transmission. The input shaft did not want to go in all the way because the clutch splines had damage to them which was very odd.
Took off the pressure plate and FANTASTIC the brand new 6 puck clutch disc I received from the previous owner (already installed) was cracked and broken.
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii131/pballa88/9199BBEC-5881-4663-A1FA-CF4E738488CE_zpsotq7n0w8.jpg (http://s263.photobucket.com/user/pballa88/media/9199BBEC-5881-4663-A1FA-CF4E738488CE_zpsotq7n0w8.jpg.html)
But it was all a good experience. I have a new starter and soon a new clutch disc to get this engine running.

Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of my progress since I have been eager with getting this thing done, but things have been going smooth.
I purchased a new ACT sr20 6 puck clutch disc from FRsport
http://www.frsport.com/ACT-6240306-6-Puck-Sprung-Clutch-Disc-S13-S14-SR20DET_p_15167.html
After I purchased the clutch disc I slapped it on the engine with the pressure plate bolts at 14ft lbs. And the transmission was ready for mounting.
A buddy and I tried to mate up the KA transmission input shaft with the clutch splines but for awhile it just wasn't going in. We ended up taking off the clutch disc and just slid the clutch disc by itself with the provided lube from ACT onto the input shaft. It finally went on smoothly with the clutch disc detached from the pressure plate. After that we installed the clutch disc and pressure plate onto the 1uz again and the transmission input shaft slid right into the clutch splines with ease.
Once the transmission was installed we tested the starter again and it didn't get stuck and spun the engine! Things are looking good!!
At the moment I ordered some Felpro intake manifold gaskets from Autozone and I will be picking those up tomorrow. While I am out I am going to order my custom driveshaft.
All I need to do now is install the intake manifold, fuel rail, wire it up and wait for my driveshaft to arrive and it should be running very soon.

The 1uz is getting closer and closer everyday towards start up and first drive.
I purchased new Felpro intake gaskets and installed those about $36
Wired up the starter/knock sensors.
I checked the injectors and one of the injectors had part of the bottom plastic piece torn off. So I normally don't do this, but I am going to go to the junk yard and grab all 8 USED injectors. I looked up brand new injectors for the 1uz and they were going for about $80 EACH. Yeah that's not happening.

Driveshaft:
I first went to Powertrain Industries and they were going to charge me $350 for a one piece steel driveshaft. I was going to go with them until a fellow 1uz/s13 owner told me another shop that was cheaper.
BNH4x4 is the shop name in Compton, no website or advertisement from my knowledge just a hole in the wall shop. I placed my order 10/9 and it was done the next day 10/10. They charged me $225 which saved me $125.
The quality is pretty good other then the tacky spray paint.

Yeah that was my issue too. I just don't have a welder and I can't stand wiring so I had to have someone else do that.
How much is it costing you for this shop to do it for you?
I ended up getting the driveshaft in Saturday.
But for the second picture the yolk's U-Joint came pretty close to the dust plate so I will probably just grind it down a little.
On that note I have a question regarding driveshafts:
Does the driveshaft/yolk slide in/out during motion of the car? Ie: bumps in the road, acceleration/deceleration, and maybe elevation of the rear end vs the front end. Thank you. I am wondering if the driveshaft will hit the dust plate IF I don't grind it down.

I'm currently not getting any spark. I have checked the two coil packs, spark plugs, and all my grounds.
My next step is to go to the junk yard and grab a crank sensor and ignitors. I really believe its one of these.

I have a question about the igniters being grounded. At the moment they are connected to a stock bracket (pictured on the left) and I was only able to manage to ground one side of the bracket would that be enough?
And no I am not getting any spark to the coils and I plan to test the igniters today for spark.

Check the grounds on the back of the heads. Just 1 of those being off causes the whole system to not ground. There are 2, one on each head. That was my problem for a while.

Took off those 2 grounds again to check them out and clean them. Passenger side was good. Drive side ground was frayed so I cleaned it up. But it didn't make a difference.

I also picked up another pair of igniters and a crank sensor from the junk yard today. Tried both of them, but I am still not getting any spark at all. Kind of stumped at the moment. I need to start reading the diagrams and hopefully figure something out. Maybe the cam sensors now??
Edit: I have been reading up a ton about the no spark issue. This is just a theory, but I've seen a lot of sc400/ls400 threads about faulty ECU's. I plan to open up the ECU and look for burns or anything unordinary. And even pick up a ECU and test a working one.

85 should be your trigger wire. Some sort of IGN only power source. 86 should be grounded. 30 should be battery power preferably fused and 87 should be connected to B+. I'd just remove the 87A so it's not drawing any power.

Thank you for the advice for what it COULD have been, but I checked every fuse except one!
Which was it....The fuse right next to the battery. By the way the fuse was only a 25AMP fuse should I have a bigger fuse inline with the battery? I also have a 200AMP circuit breaker if that makes a difference.
However I did get it to crank and spark. Now I need gas and I just order a walbro 255 fuel pump.

I put in about 3 gallons of 91 since I had old 87 in it. I was hoping it would do the trick, but its not wanting to start and idle! I have tried moving my igniter ground to various places, jumped the car since the battery was low, and used starter fluid. The first start will sound pretty strong, but then it diminishes if keep trying.

I was thinking MAF as another possible problem. I unplugged it and tried starting it again, same result. I should just go grab one from the junk yard to compare even though its likely it can be bad as well. I have also noticed that it will actually WANT to start with starting fluid, the more I spray into the throttle body the more likely it wants to start. No starting fluid= not really a spark.

MAF's are very problematic with how old they are now. Can you test to see that the MAF is getting power?
Unfortunately you wont be able to test the output easily as the MAF outputs a frequency rather than voltage (aka Nissan MAF's).... if you have something like a SAFC you can check this output easily though.
As a side note my 1uzfe will start and run with the MAF disconnected but will run like shit.
Have you tried cranking the engine with a timing light to check if the engine is sparking on each cycle? - might be a worthwhile exercise.

Testing the spark with a timing light is a good idea. I will have to purchase a timing light. Mine wont even run with or without the MAF connected.
My buddy did the 1uz swap on his rx7 awhile ago and he had to adjust his TPS to make it run. That's just another possible solution.
Every time I try to gas it when the engine wants to start it doesn't even react like it's getting more gas. It just starts up and dies with or without my foot on the gas.
I'll proceed my tests on Friday since its my only day off.

Small Update:
-I tested the spark again and I am getting spark in Cylinder 1 which is the driver side coil pack.
-I am not getting spark on Cylinder 3 and 5 which is the passenger side coil pack.
-I tested the passenger side coil pack with another coil pack I got from the junk yard, but still nothing.
-Switched out the igniters with some others I got from the junk yard, nothing.
-Tested cam sensors on driver side and passenger side at 2k ohms and they tested exactly the same at 1.110 ohms. I read that they should be 900-1400 ohms so I should be good with those then.
I am puzzled because people can actually run this engine on 4 cylinders. Which I should be doing since one side is getting spark and one side is not.
Possible Problems:
ECU
Passenger Distributor Cap and Rotor.

After realizing the problem I found its something to deal with my passenger side coil pack not sparking, so I started to read. I learned how to test and determine if spark plug wires, coil wires, distributor caps, and rotors are good or bad.
I took pictures of the distributor rotors. Both the passenger and drive side look equally worn at the ends.

Well that's what I am confused about. I keep reading and I even seen my buddy's 1uz run off of 4 cylinders. But why isn't mine? IF it was the coil pack it SHOULD still run. But mine dies every time upon start up.
I've been a little busy with school as its reaching the end of the semester so I haven't work on it as much as I'd like.
I still haven't checked to see if my injectors are pulsing, rather fix the spark issue then move on to something else.
I did record the continuity reading of each spark plug and coil wires. They seem to be close enough to the specified values listed. Excuse my writing skills.

The previous OWNER not the person that did the wiring decided to DEPIN one of the igniter connectors, which happened to be for the passenger side coil. That person switched the IGT and IGF wires so the signal wasn't going to where it should be.
Switched it back to where it should be, Spark are all 8 cylinders, starts and runs just fine.

Now my passenger side is pretty crammed with lines. I have some options: I can bend the fuel lines which is annoying doing it on the car, I'd love to flare the fuel lines and do custom steel braided lines through the trans tunnel, or just cut the fuel lines a little and use rubber hose so it hugs the frame staying away from the headers. Tell me what you guys suggest.

How I did it may not be the "proper" way but it worked well for me! Lol
I loosened where the lines are mounted to the firewall and underneath so I had a little wiggle room. I then placed a 22mm socket between the firewall and fuel lines. I then put light pressure on the lines by the socket in order to give it enough of a bend so when I removed the socket the lines were really close to the firewall. I then remounted the hard line so it wouldn't wiggle.
That's it, lol

Your manifold sits low, which made me realize I had to put washers on my engine mounts to lift the engine off the steering rack. That's why my passenger exhaust manifold come so close to the lines..grrrr.
I seen your manifold and I was like holy shit you have a ton of room!
How's your clutch line looking? If you have a full exhaust on it that is.

I have an aftermarket flexible (Auto to manual) clutch line that will stay by the trans and away from the heat. I'm using stock headers right now, DS modified by TurtleMeth and passenger side I had modified to get the end down and away from the trans and firewall.
I have had personal matters to deal with first before continuing on this project, so maybe next year I'll be done.
I can't wait to see more of your progress!!!

As you can tell this is my first swap, or else I would have bought that damn clutch line right away. Just looked it up and that would be really nice so I can have the clutch line go straight through the trans tunnel.
I figured go bold and just go with tundra headers since I haven't seen anyone else with them, in person at least.
Christmas is setting me back a bit from getting this done. I'd say 1-2 months and it'll be 100% on the road. Gotta get it done before college starts again in the spring.

Haha no I would never do that. The passenger side is still a tundra header. It just looks like a log header on the passenger side because of the black paint.

HOWEVER. A hopefully small problem has occurred.
After we finished bleeding the clutch we figured we should try engaging/disengaging the clutch.
While the car is off I can switch gears sorta fine. But when the car is on and I try to shift to ANY
gear I can't it's, too hard to even force it. It wont go into gear while I have the clutch engaged. I
assume it's the Master Cylinder. I am hoping it doesn't have anything to do with the tranmission/TOB.
What do you guys suggest?
*Note before the swap the MC and SC were working fine with the stock engine.

I haven't started mine yet but noticed after bleeding my MC and slave i couldn't move the shifter into any gears but 1st and 2nd. I hear for me it's an issue with the flywheel and pressure plate not working with the KA clutch plate; kind of a common problem. So I am pulling the trans this morning to get my new KA clutch and pressure plate mated to the MR2 flywheel at a machine shop... should solve the problem.
Dunno if this issue happens with other trans or just the KA/SR trans...

Small update.
-Wired up the aftermarket water temp gauge.
-Wired up the my electric fan to the AC button which was pretty useful
-Purchased and installed new clutch Master and Slave... BUT the transmission still wont go into gear while the car is running.
1) Tried bleeding the clutch with fresh brake fluid like 10 times
2) Tried adjusting the Master Cylinder a couples times
I am worried with Brett Collins extended TOB it wasn't extended enough. Gonna try to extend the slave a little and go from there.
I am really trying to avoid pulling the transmission because I would have to pull the whole motor out and its basically complete...

My trans was junk and couldn't change gears even after pulling it back out So I now have a new KA trans.
I'm hoping to not have the same issue, As long as the engine isn't running I can now change into any gear I need. If the engine going on and causes the problem it is either the TOB is too short (I have the Collins doubled up TOB) or the clutch plate is too thick and is stuck between the pressure plate and flywheel.
A couple more things to button up then I'll try starting mine to let you know if I have same issue.
Yours is looking boss BTW, loving this thread.

I am using the same KA trans from my KA24DE and it shifted just fine that's why I am like grrr it has something to do with the swap. My car is at a friends house at the moment so that's why I am not trying to pull the engine out because that's just more time and he wants my car out of his place which is understandable. If worst comes to worst I'll just tow it back to my house and unhook everything.
Thanks man. Glad to hear yours is coming together as well. I have less then a month of class left so it'll be complete soon. I HOPE!

On this no name pressure plate it had an inner lip which stayed in contact with the clutch disc, so the clutch disc was never able to spin freely.

-PS lines hooked up and away from the headers.
Took it out for a drive and every time I would touch the throttle it would bog pretty bad and no power.
I tried unplugging the MAF which allowed me to give it throttle without a problem, but of course it runs super rich.
At the moment I am trying to hook up the CEL but I am having trouble finding the CEL (W) wire on the 1uz ECU. I have looked at wiring diagrams, still no luck.

Under $3,000~ I'd say. My exhaust was probably the most expensive part because of clearance issues.
Back to the wiring issue. I think I have found the problem. I didn't do my wiring and I found that my 26 Plug as suggested by profile18 is suppose to have the "W" wire also known as the "CEL"
Here is my 26 Plug: The person who wired my s13 took out all the other wires including the CEL.

Finally wired the CEL.
But no codes are being thrown.....
I put it in diagnostic mode and all it does is flash the CEL continuously while the key is in the "ON" position.
I read that if it continuously flashes there is no codes being stored. Which doesn't make sense to me because I do not have an EGR and that code should be flashing.
Anyways here's a small CEL how to...
This is my first small write up so here we go:
Solution to wiring the CEL (Check Engine Light) for a 1992 ls400 1uzfe into a s13:
1uzfe CEL Wire Location:
-First the 1uzfe CEL wire is a ground
-Refer to wiring diagram: http://www.lextreme.com/lexecc1.pdf
-CEL wire (YELLOW/RED) located on the 1uz ECU 26plug is #5 labeled "W"
I have a lot of wires missing on the 26 plug due to the swap and how it was wired. But here is my 26 plug you can see the YELLOW/RED CEL wire.
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii131/pballa88/750AE67C-9574-4556-9FFA-BD03554D3568_zpsi2z4mf6p.jpg (http://s263.photobucket.com/user/pballa88/media/750AE67C-9574-4556-9FFA-BD03554D3568_zpsi2z4mf6p.jpg.html)
1991 s13 DOHC CEL Location:
-This time the S13 CEL wire is power so it works perfect with the 1uzfe CEL wire.
-Refer to wiring guide: http://www.ma240sx.net/forums/showthread.php?tid=10070
-CEL wire (RED) #4 located on F1 plug its the brown plug that normally connects to the ka24de engine harness.
Here is my F1 plug, you can clearly see the RED CEL wire. I then cut the red wire away from the F1 plug to get it ready to be soldered together with the 1uz CEL wire.

To make it simple:
Yellow/Red (1uzfe wire) spliced into Red (s13 wire)

Right on my UZ is the same year. i also deleted EGR and mine dosent thrown any codes. i read some where with the earlier LS400 UZ's jumping the EGR isnt necessary. With your bogging problem sounds more of an O2 sensor problem check your sensors &/or connection. My UZ fell flat on its face with any throttle when i forgot to plug my

Haha exactly... good find!
So...
Installed the Tomei Type S FPR I adjusted it to 40 psi, it helped a little but still bogged and died out with throttle.... So yes the problem is still here. But I decided to actually keep it running for about 30 minutes without applied throttle to adjust the TPS a bit more. I was able to rev the engine freely when it was in operating temperature without bogging out which was nice.
My possible verdicts: Either the IACV or Temp Sensor, both of them aren't throwing codes. The black smoke that comes from the exhaust still leads me to think Temp Sensor (even though it's in spec). I have a spare IACV that I am going to install and go from there...I will update in the up coming week.

Delete the IACV to rule out the IACV.
Black smoke is STUPID rich. I would check stuck/leaky injectors.
Temp sensor wouldn't hurt to change.

In order to delete the IACV I need an aftermarket ECU though correct?
I was thinking the same since I'm using one injector that I had to get from the junkyard. But I'll fix the temp sensor and IACV since they are cheap and easy.

I also still can't WOT it because it just bogs and backfires, but light throttle works fine. I am debating to get new injectors even though most people say injectors aren't really issues on these engines.

i used an sc400 throttle cable on my Cressida, not sure if it works for S-chassis.

Sounds good thanks. I asked a couple people on the facebook 1uz page and they slot the throttle cable mount bolt holes or they just use a SOHC cable which I believe mine is a DOHC cable.

I though the SOHC cable is shorter than the DOHC.

I guess you are right. That's odd then. I'll just slot the bracket and that should help.
My cable seems long and I have a lot of slack but the actual metal part of the cable that attaches to the throttle prevents it from hitting the throttle stop screw.

So I've been MIA for awhile it seems. Work was drowning me in hours and I even put the car on craigslist to see what I can get for it, but nothing interests me.
Finally got the chance to work on it yesterday fixed some small leaks, and took it for a drive. Now I want to keep it again haha. However, it kept bogging on full throttle.
My buddy told me he had bogging issues because his air filter was too restrictive. So I took off the filter and BAM fixed my bogging issues... Shitty ebay filters suck! I took it out to run some errands for xmas and everything works pretty damn well except for my garbage alignment and loud ass exhaust. I plan to buy myself some tools for xmas and hopefully I'll get this thing up and drifting again.

Is the IACV under the throttle body where the hell is it? I have a 95 LS400 and I'm just going through basic maintenance stuff. I eventually want to 5 speed it, but after reading through your thread I'm second guessing lol.

Here is a picture from my first page of my scattered build haha.
You will see the black piece that's the face of the IACV you don't have to take out the whole thing to clean it. Just unscrew the 3 screws. Yes screws. Not the 10mm nuts.

This is my first swap ever so I'll admit it's not professionally done. It was just a bunch of trial and error and learning everything.

Those motors are neat. I sold mine out of my cressida to get a 1j but I liked it a lot. Never had an engine that made so much torque at 1k rpm, lots of fun.

And if you don't mind, can you post up what parts are needed to convert to 5 speed using KA tranny.
I saw you used an SW20 FW, SR clutch, KA tranny (duh)

Yeah I am just learning how great they are. They seem indestructible according to people that beat the hell out of them. I do miss a turbo noises though...

Thank you. That's what I am hoping.

Will do. The clutch setup is what I use and many others.
-KA Transmission Adapter Plate
-Extended Throwout Bearing
-Pilot Bushing Adapter
-MR2 3sgte Flywheel (the flywheel bolt holes will have to be slotted to fit onto the crank)
-ACT T023 Pressure Plate
-SR20 ACT 6 Puck Sprung Disc

Good to see you are working on it again. I really don't have much to do now.
-Bolt down battery
-Lower the car and get a drift setup
-Buy a new seat bracket
-Buy tires

Thanks! Yeah and it's running great, I've been driving it around town almost every day.
