Just got her about a week ago. Her AC didn't work, radio didn't work, rode rough, would randomly shut off, things of that nature. I half ass got her AC to work (there must be a short somewhere, wiring is molested to hell). Sometimes it won't blow cold thru the cabin, but my lines are cold and will even turn frosty looking. (for some crazy reason -short- when I slammed hatch, it'll kick back on) ,but after dropping off kick panel and butting off loose wires behind there and behind head unit, it's almost completely stopped giving me issues. Engine caked in oil (smells super burnt at take off ). I cleaned off part of valve cover and realized gasket was leaking. Replaced that and gave the cover a good scrubbing, now smell has significantly decreased. Belts squeak at take off, but eventually goes away. I've checked them out, look fairly new, no frays, chips or rough spots. I sprayed them with conditioner anyways. Could it just be that my pulleys are caked with oil? I've changed a few hoses, replaced minor things like spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, and running a lot better. But she still kinda idles rough and SOMETIMES will pop into gear (going from reverse or park into drive and vice versa) but other than that, no gear issues. Also, my speedo won't work? Very rarely it'll come on between 40-55mph. I checked speed sensor, but it looks NEW and it's an import direct part? And also checked harness in back of cluster. Still won't work? Should I just replace speed sensor again anyways? Try putting some of that copper conductivity crap on harness connection? Nothing I've ran into too major yet. Everything so far has been easy fixes (fingers crossed) . All I really have left to mark off my list is suspension (ridiculously horrible),fix speedo issue and rough idle. Can anyone be a dear and shoot me some info/tips,etc? Pretty much a noob when it comes to cars. =/ oh and it's just the KA E.
And if someone were in the Houston area and wouldn't mind maybe checking her out and offering some insight? Would be much appreciated!
Ohp, also when I changed valve cover gasket and took off the cover, it looked as if mud was ran thru there, disgusting. Motor flush preferences? Diesel? I have a few questions about engine running hot and staying hot for a LONG time, but my theromo never reads high, and I've driven for well over an hour non stop and no "over heating issues" but I haven't flushed coolant yet (reservoir cracked to shit and I want to replace it before I attempt to flush)
