Yeah, definitely qualifies into the rice category...I have blue headlights, corner lights, and bumper lnses, but that's where it ends....it gives the car a bit more of a euro look....I do plan on going back to the original bulbs though...

That is not rice...You guys think its ricey because its what every rice rollers have...Yellow lights are played out and it looks so boring to look at nowadays.

No, it's not only for accord owners, there's nothing wrong with them. In fact they look nice, but if causes too many tickets then that's another story. You people need to stop with the rice bullshit. Rice this rice that, everything is rice. It's starting to get tedious. There's nothing wrong with making you car look nice. I wouldn't be surprised if this nonsense was coming from people who hardly have the money to spend on performance parts.

Hhhhmmmmm... I guess we're each entitled to our opinion, but to me those are ARROZ (Si hablas espaƱol significa: RICE)
I have yet to see a car other than riced out Civics or Accords with those.

Everytime I see that windshield washer crap, I laugh, I wonder if they kept the original ones for when they wake up and realize they're ugly. Or shall I say Rice.

i agree, i am pretty tired of this whole rice thing on here. i personally wouldn't get the blue lights for myself, but i'm not gonna go out n say, don't do it, it's 2 ricey. who cares? it's not ur car neway, if u like it , then do it. everybody has their own preferences on how they want their car to be. it's just getting old, ppl act like they're better than someone else b/c they don't have rice on their car. there will always be ppl that like and hate ur car or hate or like different parts about it.

everybody has their own style, true, i might think it's ricey, but once again, who cares? ur not doing it to ur car. it's just some little blue lights neway. i might dress like a bum w/ holes in my jeans n a white shirt n somebody else might dress like a prep, everything looking nice n perfect, who's to say which is better? different ppl feel comfortable wearing different clothes or in this case different stuff for ur car. it's not like it's all riced out or nething, ok i'll shut up now cuz i can tell this is going nowhere n everybody will just keep saying RICE, RICE, RICE to nething about a car that they don't like, whether it be a spoiler, rims, exhaust, or nething else.

I agree, the whole rice thing is getting out of hand. Pretty soon people will be saying that 17 inch wheels are rice.

n some ppl do think 17's r RICEY, i don't. i can understand if the whole car is completely riced out n the person is just stupid, but not if there's just one or 2 things about ur car that ppl call ricey, cuz other ppl might like it. as many of u know, all of our cars aren't turboed even though we want them to be. we get stuff like intake, cat-back, headers, whatever u know, n there r ppl that say, "well at least ur car sounds good," or look at that making all that noise n it ain't goin' nowhere, n then call the car ricy. point is there's just 2 many different things to debate about, i personally hate the whole RICE thing n think it's just stupid n that ppl complain 2 much, or r jealous cuz they can't get that exhaust that the other person has, or something like that, unless the whole car is riced out. i'm not offending nebody though so don't take it the wrong way, but i'm done for now.

wheels aren't ricey cause they actually serve a purpose. my wheels are lighter weight, and have smaller sidewall tires for better handling. and they cost some $$$.
little lights cost $20 and they serve no purpose. that's why they are rice. go put them on a car, take it to a show, and see how many points you lose cause of them

there r a lot of rims out there that ppl call ricey though...i've even seen it on this site

Its just down to what looks good and what doesnt in my book. F*ck all to do with rice. Over here in UK we get the equivalent of rice. But its done on Vauxhaull novas, vauxhall corsas etc. Nothing to do with japanese motors. Hey who givs a f*ck ? Do what ya want. Some c*nt will always find something derogatory to say about your motor no matter where it comes from.

wheela really can't be rice. a 30lb 20-inch chrome wheel would have some sort of different name, but even that isn't rice

okay what about this then, a toyota tercel (sorry transient, no offense, ur thread just made this come to mind <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> ) w/ no mods, but has 18 inch rims, n a big aluminum spoiler. ricey? i think a lot of ppl would say so.
BlankFlip
10-31-2001, 04:16 PM
vancouvers14, i agree that ppl shouldn't call it rice, i don't think we should call ne specific thing rice, unless the whole car is completely riced out b/c everybody has their own opinions on what looks good to them n what not.

There are certain items that are stupid; like V-Tec stickers on non-V-Tec cars. That's rice, I think. Now I feel guilty about saying "rice".

okay...as far as I can tell rice is used in reference to cars as a descriptive word or adjective. It may be considered synonymous with "tacky" or "gawdy", maybe even "ostentatious". I don't think anyone will really disagree with me on that. It is not in any way a derogatory term, and the reason they chose "rice" instead of "french fry" or "hamburger" or something american is because most of the car mods come from jpn since americans dont do much to anything other than corvettes. no one should feel bad for using the term as an adjective. And I am proud to say that windshield wiper lights are "tacky".

I work at a car wash so i get to drive all kinds of cool cars, and i get to drive some pretty stupid ones. Some buy brought in a brand new STOCK integra. All he had on the car were some little racing type decals on the windows and a 5" chrome exhaust tip... now come on.. you look at the car from the side and you see this huge tip on a lil stock pipe.. i about died laughing at the moron.

I personally agree that I am getting real sick of people calling cars "rice", some people do take the $20 mods a little too seriously on their cars, and having stickers from companies who's products haven't ever made it anywhere near your car is uncalled for (like the Accord I saw the other night with an Edelbrock sticker on it <barf>) but everybody has their own style. Some of these cars that people call ricey have a room full of trophies from car shows and such, if you car is so special where are your trophies? haha
Yeah sometimes I don't agree with what people do to their cars, but after some idiot called my car rice the other night because it has ML320 clear sidemarkers on it I definitely knew the whole rice issue was getting out of hand... that is a quality low buck custom modification... hahahaha.
Ok, I think I am done <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Yeah, just check my link with my mods list. Those freaking lights are Gay, Rice. Every stock honda/neon in Orlando has a pair to go along with their GT-R wings and gay altezza taillights.

unless you SERIOUSLY race, aluminum wings are useless and ricey. i'm talkin on the track, every weekend, winning prize money, helmets, rollcages kinda racing.

One thing about the whole "rice" debate is that it is a very relative term. I don't do anything to my car that is not a performance enhancing upgrade. I would call many things ricey that others won't, but for the most part, I keep quiet about it here. Some things I just find too tacky to let go - this, clear tails, dubz, giant wings, and others.
The great thing is that this is sort of the purpose of this board. Just like some of us will be influenced what intercooler to buy or what exhaust, others will be persuaded what color of lights to run or what color to redo their interior in. When any of us asks a question, we are looking for feedback... and we get it, good or bad. It's not a personal attack - its a statement of opinion... that's why we're here.
And, for all of us, please don't try too hard to read into the motives of "people" who don't agree with your sense of style. To me, that crosses the line of personal taste to personal attack.

not so much here (on zilvia.net), but in real life, i think ppl r idiots when it comes to rice. i know a lot of ppl that criticize a lot of imports n r just all out "RICE." i'm just like who the fuck does this guy think he is to be sayin' that, first of all he's 20 years old n has never owned a car in the first place, he's only been driving for a year, n is commenting that the n1 dual exhaust is just plain fucking stupid on the RX-7. he thinks its useless n just makes noise n it's not "stock" like all the #### mustangs he likes so it's automatically "RICE." when i c ppl criticize ne aftermarket stuff on here, i just think that half the time they're an idiot like this guy is (not all the time though cuz most ppl on this site have really good opinions n what not on cars.)
I totally agree with Zephyr and BlankFlip. I have friends who don't even know anything about cars, never changed oil or spark plugs and are calling car's rice... It seems like some people caught on to the term and use it to describe any car that might have a chin spoiler or body kit. I don't necessarily agree with people putting on very aggressive looking combat kits, or disgustingly huge wings, because I'd rather have something that's functional over looks, but if that's what people are into let them do it, without being harassed. Personally I don't call it Rice, because I think it's overused and too many people who use it don't know anything about cars to begin with, I don't have a problem with the term, I just call it for what it is. That's just my opinion on the deal. Sorry to bring up the whole rice thing again, and I won't do it again... <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Just go stelth! It will feel a #### of a lot better pulling up next to a civic thats got altezzas a spoiler (because it looks nice) and some rims and ripping it to #### while the whole time the civic kid is laughing to themself thinking whats this stock going to do? because you dont have big stickers and weird shit in your car they think its and easy win. It so good!

i don't like any lights on the outside of the car that don't belong there and have no purpose. neon lights, those LED lights or anything. i don't mind neon on the inside of the car as long as it isn't flashy (not literally). i had strobe lights in my rear reverse lights that were hooked up to the alarm, but i took them out because a punk ass kid with a 240sx in my town had his car on fire from those things.
anyways, i say people can do what they want with their cars, who cares. my philosophy is "don't like it? don't do it to your car." and then race the guy with enough lights on his car for a disco and see what happens
