i'm looking at importing a jdm silvia yet it has some dmg on the rear pannel above the tire i was wondering if it is possible to just do a straight swap with a usdm one from a 240sx coupe thx for the help :)

the body panels are the same but the rear quater panel doesn't come off, it's part of the body of the car. it'll have to be pounded out or a new panel welded in and touched up. good luck with your JDM tYtE SilVIa.

heh forgive my lack of stupidity i'm just getting into mechanics and it's possible to get a nice silvia here at the same price as a 240sx so thx for the info :)

i wish everyone had a lack of stupidity, unfortunatly most have an abundance of it. i just think the RHD would be too much of a pain in the ass. but if they are the same price then you could save lots of money not haveing to do a swap and front end conversion.

Someone so clueless wouldn't import a whole car :spank:

the rear 1/4's can be removed, it requires drilling and cutting. but it can be done. My 1/4's on the hatch were rusted out, i took the sawzall to the wreckers cut off what i needed, drilled out the spot welds and removed the 1/4's. Same sort of deal on the car it's self, but since there is no seam, you'll have to choose a spot and make one there, then weld it back up when you're finnished.

it's not that i'm totally clueless i was asking an honest question, how else do we learn? i'm not stupid enough to go import something like this without doing some research etc
