What aftermarket stuff don't you recommend?

Ok, nobody likes wasting their money, so leteveryone know if you've bought anything you don't like, wasn't worth the money, etc.

Me first:
1.  OBX shifter (I'm not going to say any more about it)
2.  Momo shift boot.  It doesn't really fit and its so tall, that its not worth it to have to spend 2 hrs modifying it to make it fit.

Anything made by APC (American Products Co.).  All crap made by APC is crap.  Racing Hart Wheels, queerest wheels on the planet.  Flowmaster's EEEF stay away from this domestic junk.  ClutchMasters, shittiest aftermarket clutch.  Any big brands that make a variety of products such as Tenzo.  Focal wheels, biggest wannabe playa wheels.  K&N, only thing i'd buy from them is their ignition.

I havent bought any of those companies products but I know from freinds experiences and many many many reviews that, that stuff = junk.

you don't recommend k&n? I have to counter that and say k&n makes the best intakes and I have never had a problem with them. And flowmaster, I would'nt put them on a import I would probably but them on a domestic (which I will never own). Do watch out for pace setter exhausts (don't know about there headers), you get what you pay for and most of there exhausts look fugly anyway. Thats all I can think of right now, also I agree with Vancouvers14 on the OBX shifter, I have not heard you guys say one good thing about it.

racing hart wheels look ok, but they've recently retired a lot of models, so if you crash your car, you'll have a really hard time finding replacements.  on the plus side, the retiring racing hart models how sell for almost half of what they used to.

K&amp;N blows heeb nuts. &nbsp;You can pick up their intakes at Kragen for $69.99 <img src="#/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('> &nbsp;Ill never own a OBX product in my life. &nbsp;Does Skunk2 make short shifters for the 240sx? &nbsp;Thats what I had on my hb.

Racing Hart wheels are for posers. &nbsp;Ill stick to my top of the line wheels...Volks, Spoon (for hondas), Mugen, Nismo has some pretty cool black 8 spoked ones that I might pick up when I get my 240sx. &nbsp;I dont know anything about Nismo though, they seem to be the &quot;Spoon&quot; of Nissans.

So Whaked what your saying is because K&amp;N is cheap and readily available it is a bad product? Just because it does'nt come in ricer green with a polished tube does'nt mean it sucks, infact K&amp;N's usually flow more then the expensive filters and of course is cheaper. volks aren't worth the money. &nbsp;and if you want to talk about posing, that's what volks are for. &nbsp;I haven't seen one car in my area with volks that didn't have a HUGE volk racing sticker on it

well, i bought my 240 from a guy who only modified the entire exhaust system. i'm pretty sure that is a flowmaster. its pretty nice, but i would have put a better system on it. he claimed to gain 19 hp. well, i'm not sure about that. the muffler on it was too puny for a sports car. so i replaced it with the hks sport exhaust muffler. it makes the system purr like a diablo or something of that expense. but the real reason i'm posting is i'm considering to put a k&amp;n air intake. i'm low on the dough so... do you guys recomend anything different that won't take much work.

I have primax rims they were only $1000 for 17&quot;s and tiers and if you look on the show your ride thread they look pritty #### good
i think on how you do it to make it look ,sounds and run good is up to you if your happy with it

AEM used to use K&amp;N filters for their intake systems, and aem would not use them if it did not perform well. &nbsp;The only reason AEM does not use K&amp;N anymore is because they are cutting costs by manufaturing their own filters. &nbsp;AEM makes the best intakes. &nbsp;
As for things not to use, Pace Setter- so #### ugly and sounds like crap. Was told it doesnt even work. &nbsp;
Remember, you get what you pay for. Of course sometimes you get lucky, but not always. &nbsp;
Rims- people get what they like, as for the people who put big A** stickers on their car, that is just plain retarded. &nbsp;Are they getting sponsored to put that huge sticker, i think not. &nbsp;

Hey nismo240sx, if your low on cash just buy a universial k&amp;n cone filter and fit it to your car. I'm not sure how a KA 240sx is set up but I did this with my old 300zx and it is just the same as the $120 k&amp;n kit.It's like $40 for a 6 inch cone and then maybe $10 for a piece of pipe to fit the cone to the intake tube (if you get a metal pipe make sure it won't rust) Thats just a cheap do it yourself idea.

and regarding k&amp;n. &nbsp;most companies use their own filters. &nbsp;can't think of a company that uses k&amp;n anymore. &nbsp;don't know if thats a reflection of k&amp;n quality, or just the other companies wanting to make more profit by manufacturing their own filters. &nbsp;as far as i know with the injen intakes, the injen filters have performed better than the k&amp;ns in the injen intakes.

Not recommended: ANYTHING THAT HAS TENZO-R on it (even if the sales-guys tell you it's &quot;universal&quot;). And an OBX shifter. And that's all. (GReddy over Hotshot-always)

GReddy and Trust are the same companies. Trust is the name they use in Japan. They've been on the market for a while, and established a certain level of &quot;trust&quot; amongst their customers. I have their exhaust, and I'm happy. I also have their sticker and it gave me much horsepower. If they made a header that fit my 240 I'd have that too but they don't. My two pennies!

Okay this kinda changes the subject, but I am gonna be honest. I am new at this and have only been reading up on this the past couple of months. Why does everyone go out and but the sr20det. With turbo its only 205. If you put a turbo on the ka24d you get 250-270. Also money no being an issue, can you twin turbo a s13?

I don't recommend OBX products, but I do have an OBX strut tower bar and it works 9pretty hard to mess up a metal bar tho..). &nbsp;K&amp;N are good filters, but I've replaced mine with a Blitz filter and much more happy iwth it since its all metal and easier to wash than the K&amp;N element. &nbsp;I hate Pace setter, Tenzo-R, and anything else with a pseudo-japanese name but is obviously a SoCal company. Go with the *real* macoy, go with Japanese products. Quality is the best, and they know their cars much better IMHO. &nbsp;Trust, Apexi, HKS, NISMO. &nbsp;

I got a $45 k&amp;n replacement, and I like it. &nbsp;You notice the difference more on the top end, probably cuz there's more air moving around under the hood. &nbsp;Maybe 2-4 hp. &nbsp;I needed a new filter anyway, and now I never need to buy another, unless I get an Injen

focals... nasty nasty nasty, there is a SATURN club on the coast and half of them have focals... &nbsp; they got them off of e-bay for dirt cheap... &nbsp;some shop couldn't sell them. &nbsp; K&amp;Ns take to much time to &quot;recharge&quot; in other words get the dirt off and reoil it... i never do it.. im prolly gonna get a aem filter or something that you can just spray off... &nbsp;OBX mufflers are sorry... &nbsp;my bottomed out one time and it trashed the muffler...
