Enthalpy tune

So about a year ago I sent in my ecu to Martin thinking that I had denso 460cc's. When I got the ecu back I tried to start it up but the car ran shitty smoking, spitting, and sputtering etc. After a bunch of trouble shooting and talking to martin about it I finally just gave up.

Recently I found out that instead of 460s I actually have denso 550cc's I'm wondering could that have been the problem I was having that I told him the wrong info and he tuned for it so it didnt run right? Also I have an afc and im not sure if that would make the difference of injectors

Yea that's probably the issue. The ecu was tuned for smaller injectors. So when the injector got the signal from the maf it would put a proportionally large amount of fuel in causing you to run shitty and super rich

As for the afc, I haven't used one but from what I've heard, it's more of a bandage solution.

Yeah if that's happening at idle the injectors are spraying a pisston of fuel, way more than it should. I doubt an AFC will even work, or be anywhere near safe, you need to get that retuned.

You need to be careful with running super rich like that, you can wash the walls of the cylinder fairly easy and dilute your oil with fuel pretty easy, both of which are very bad.

Just to put it perspective, I had a messed up tune for a set of 370's on my ka, it was running just a little bit too rich and when I was idling, there was liquid gas spraying 5feeet out my exhaust pipe and even after changing the oil asap and getting it retuned, I got a rod knock. Save yourself the money for a new engine and just get it retuned.

A tunable ECU is your best bet. Will save you headaches and money in the long run.

There wouldn't have been a headache in the first place if he had provided the right information. My Enthalpy tune was perfect out of the box.
