Like the title says... here it gose:
How dose it look now(cracked, faded ect ect.), how old is it? Places that you come in contact with often- like elbow spots -do they get dirty easily, stain or worse, rub off. What kind of paint did you use? Did you primer or sand the surface before painting? Did you clearcoat after painting?

A friend is thinking about painting a few interior pieces and we're wondering how long the paint will last and still look good. Any tips or info much appreciated.

Kinda my thoughts too, don't really care for the flashy painted interiors. But, this isn't my car. It's a friends car and he's mind-set. I didn't have much luck searching, anyone know of any sites or anything covering interior painting(trims, and such. sorry for the confusion)?

It's all on how well you prep the pieces.
Paint will crack and chip if you don't prep it well.
I used "Bulldog" paint adherer to help paint stick.
- sand down the piece
- spray bulldog (bought mine at Pep boys)
- spray desired paint (multiple coats)
- Spray clear coat.

came out very nice, one of the interior pieces from my old car, I'm still using in my 240... still looks great (been about 2 years now). very glossy and smooth.

If you do it correctly it won't crack or look like shit after a while. This is my interior on my Eclipse GSX (which I've sold) about a year later. It was smooth and glass and shined like a mirror (which sucked because you were blinded at night if there were bright lights above you). It never cracked nor would it because of the process we went to paint it. Every single piece was removed front to back and painted. It took months but if you really want to know the process I think i have it in my email still I can send to yas.

i painted my interior, and lots of people have seen it and thought it was stock. silviadriver has seen it and so has ieatrice and many more.

i recommend not using gloss, just personal preference. there is also another thread where i posted this in. but it has been well over a year and i dont have any chips or cracks, or REGRET that i painted it. if i am not lazy today i will take some pics. the process it actually simple

wash the part you want to paint with dishwashing soap, really really really well.
wetsand it down with 1500-2000 grit, and wash again
i used Duplicolor flat black vinyl paint- paint on the hottest day possible or used a high powered blow drier. when you paint it spray and have someone else holding the blowdrier.
after several coats keep the blowdrier on or leave it out in the sun.

that is what i did and it came out fantastico! i painted the whole interior. and not chips blah blah yes im happy.

95Blue240sx, did you paint the dash? A- pillars? everything?

I used duplicolor gloss black and i think it looks good.. i might just wetsand with 2000 grit to take away the shine

i did paint the dash and everything. 2 days worth of work, not hard, just tedious. pics are on its way.

You painted the dash and other softer materiels? I was planning on painting the harder materiel stuff like the consonle thingy, and the brezels around the vents, door handles, gauge brezel....etc.

RCviper-if you still have the how-to thingy and wouldn't mind emailing it to me...that interior is flat gorgeuss! [email protected]

the sun makes it look faded, but it isnt.
i didnt really pay much attention to the door pocket, so i didnt paint it lol. the scratch on the speaker and under the pocket are just from my shoes i didnt bother to clean it, but it will come out. so its good shit IMHO
