Good afternoon all
I attempted the "shim trick" on my vlsd. Went to drive it and have a nasty clunk when making a low speed turn and it's very nasty when attempting to turn in reverse. Has brand new bushings and a 1piece driveshaft that were on last season. Anyone else ever have this problem? I'm tempted to just buy another rear end instead of messing with this thing but wanna make sure it's not something simple. It only SLIGHTLY clunked before but only when taking off

Did you replace the sub frame bushings ?

My Z has a clunk in the rear when accelerating, its the differential moving in the dead diff bushings. If you replaced those bushings, it could be a wheels bearing or a dying CV joint. I'd suggest removing the shims and checking your axles for play. If those looks good, check the u-joints on the drive shaft, they can make some nasty noises when they die.
