So i went to check the shaft play on my brand new tomei turbo, and it definatly feels like there is more play than before, and its about a month old..

This is probably due to the compresser surge im getting..

I have a tial Q BOV and running about 15-20lbs of boost and was recommended the 11lb spring?

The bov is open at idle, and flutters quite a bit between shifts, and even at full boost..

should i get a 9lb spring??

the car pulls in -20in/hg at idle..

SEE VIDEO FOR EXAMPLE..

If its open at idle you should need a heavier spring

did you watch the video though? it sounds like the tial is opening late.

the turbo will flutter, then blow off.

Sounds like you have the correct spring for the vac pressure

Get a lighter spring.

At what boost pressure? Mine did the same thing with a 2871r under about 14 psi.

Shit just doesn't seem right for a "legit" BOV... I'm running about 20lbs

According to their specs you need a minimum if a 1/4" ID hose direct to the manifold and the spring is based on vacuum only not boost

What I meant to say was, if my boost pressure was under approx. 14 psi, I would get compressor surge. above 14 psi it would release cleanly.

I had too light of a spring in it when I first got it as well, it was literally held open at idle. When it would release boost pressure it would sort of get stuck in a weird vacuum balance around -2inHg where the BOV would continuously open and close several times. Got a heavier spring, gave me some more surge, but it worked. Went with a GTX3076R and that fixed everything.

hmm, well i have a vaccum line running from my intake into a T which is connected to both my FPR and BOV.. Could this cause issues?

My BOV is defiantly open at idle..

yeah bro. 1/4" minimum line to the BOV, that FPR nipple off of the intake manifold is way smaller than that. Try a different vacuum source.

I would run both separately and make sure you run the correct sized hose to the BOV and try again.

Very odd that the valve is open at idle, that is caused by too light of a spring. You seem to have correct spring for your engine's vacuum. The signal hose would not cause this, only affect opening.

Keep in mind that TiAL are RACE valves, designed to vent the maximum volume of air. They have a large spring and diaphragm and require a strong signal AND some boost behind it to open. They do not open as easily as SSQV or Type-RS, but flow much more air.

On my S13 SR, there are 2 vacuum port above the throttle body. One has a 6mm (1/4") hose to my TiAL and the other split between FPR and gauge.

yeah the 1j throttle body has a pretty decently sized vacuum port i am not using.. i'll go ahead and run the directly to the BOV and see if that cures anything.. i'm also going to take apart the BOV and make sure i have the 11lb spring..

Funny you should mention this, I just noticed the other day my buddies stays open at idle on his integra too.

My tial bov does the same thing and I have the correct spring in there. It surges for half a sec and then blows off. It doesn't bother me and I think its normal. When I am full throttle and full boost, it blows off normally. It's mostly when I am driving around town and only building a few psi of boost.

yeah, but if its surging at full boost, isn't that harmful to the turbo? I recently checked my turbo for shaft play and there is a noticeable amount of play in my tomei turbo now, and i think it's due to the constant surging.

If it's ball bearing no, if it's journal bearing yeah surge is not so good.

My Greddy S-type flutters driving around town unless I hit full boost 14psi. Anything under 10psi and it doesn't really open. No biggie since s15 ball bearing turbo.

I suppose i'll try connecting it to a better vaccume soruce, if that doesn't help i will just order a 9lb spring.

Raspberry Ketone Renew (http://raspberryketonerenewsite.com/) I recommend you this marvelous formula, you should use it and get amazing results from it. For this purpose, I took many steps to burn fats and lose weight but failed. It felt just like a lump of coal at Christmas. You are neither right nor wrong because latecomers agree with you and like my uncle says, "There's a black sheep in every flock." The main ingredient is red raspberry which is very effective for me in losing weight. This supplement also helps me to reduce my fatty belly and helps me to gain healthy body weight.
