Hey members of zilvia!

I usually don't post, I only search.
and I apologize if I posted on different section,
but my DD is driving me crazy with this problem,
so would like to ask for your knowledge.

Car: 92 240sx automatic

Problem: transmission is stuck on park after I put it into park.

Usually, when I press on brake peddle to start engine and select gear, it makes this "Click" sound. but it won't make that sound anymore. Also, Brake Light dose not light up any more.

Places to look for:
Brake fuse (checked)
Brake pedal switch ( Part no: 25320 ? )
shift selector (Part No: 34935 ? )
transmission module (Part no: 31036? no idea where is located tho.)
Any thing else ???
where dose this "click" sound coming from?

What actually works
Engine turns on : yes
Transmission pin that manually select gears: Yes and when I select "D" I can drive and shifts.

How can I diagnose or, know witch part is bad?
I know, I should do manual swap, but cost of fixing might be cheaper.

Thank you.

Sounds like the shifter lockout.

you're sure your brake light fuse is in good shape? Otherwise i know alot of gunk gets in the shifter selector, take off your cetner console and clean up around the shifter. Also you could check the break switch under the break pedal it might not be sensing that you're foot is on the break thus not allowing you to shift out of P.

Hello !

Great News! got it fixed, it was brake pedal switch that was malfunctioning. got the parts at the local parts store. but when ever I fix my car with local auto store parts, the quality between OEM and Parts store is huge difference, I probably change this switch when I do my 5speed swap.

Anyways thanx for the help!

Good to hear you got it fixed, yeah the part store quality isn't the greatest. I had this issue on a SC300. Went through 3 or 4 of them in 10k miles before i finally got a "good one" from the store, good thing about the lifetime warranty stuff.
