This is a high quality oil cooler/ oil filter relocator kit. Don't run your car at high temperatures that affects the lubrication of the oil, or cheap aftermarket oil coolers that can over cool the oil and damage your engine.

Some features that this oil cooler offers pointed out in the HKS site (http://www.hks-power.co.jp/en/product/cooling/oilcooler/index.html)

Oil Temperature Controlled by Thermostat
This is perfect to avoid over-cooling or running the car at high temperatures. Goes to show that quality of the product opposed to other alternatives.

As described in the HKS site:
HKS Oil Coolers use high performance cooling cores; so there is the possibility of overcooling which is prevented by the use of a thermostat (some vehicles excluded). This thermostat has high response and able to react quickly to change of oil temperature. Once oil temperature reaches the set level, the oil will flow through the cooler core but bypasses when temperatures drop lower. This allows engine oil to be maintained at the ideal temperature.
* Thermostat Opening Temperature 70℃ (±3℃)
* Thermostat Full Open Temperature 80℃ (±3℃)

Steel braided hoses made with an fittings.
This allows to relocate the filter by close to the shock tower and the lengths of the other hoses are to fit the cooler core at the front of the car for more airflow and optimal cooling.

Popped? like blown?

My SR threw a rod due to oil starvation while I was cruising on the freeway. I checked the oil filter and cooler core for any shavings that might have been picked up but there were none since the oil pump was not picking up any oil from the oil pan. I made sure the oil that was left in the oil filter and cooler was there while draining it. All the oil was clean and not one shaving on it.

I have pictures of the oil being poured out of the oil cooler core and the oil filter. these are in my camera and I can get those uploaded later this week.
