Hello gentlemen,
I have a ka24de and recently did a 240/248 cam swap on my s14. Well turns out I didn't like it. It ran fine and idled fine but I felt more kick with the 232/232(honest). So I went back to stock and aligned everything(cams/dizzy) back together and when I came to start the car it idled like a freaking rotary! Not only that but there was white smoke coming from the exhaust. I checked my spark plugs and turns out they were coated in black. Might that be causing the misfiring??

Try cleaning them. Or replace. You could've fouled them.

You need modified or adjustable cam gears to properly do the hot cam swap, otherwise the cam timing will be off.

Black non oily spark plugs is a sign of carbon build up, which means you're running RICH.

It's possible you didn't get the timing back exactly where it was before. sounds like you're not burning the fuel completely.

The real question is were the plugs changed after you did all this swapping around. They might have been on the way out before you did any of this.

No the plugs weren't changed. I picked up a fresh set today though.
I have another question however.
I want to find the duration of the cams I have now. I feel like I should check myself before I sell them.
Is measuring the lobe lift similar to measuring the duration? Because I know how to measure lift with a vernier.
Thanks for the info btw!
