TheSnail

How do yo do it? For years ive called it teen including many of my friends, but then my boss critisized me because the correct way it "Tine" but then on then on the internet I found someone that met the president of the company and he said it was Tane. So what the hell? Mostpeople call it "Teen" , only to be made fun of by the ones that call it "tine" then to be corrected by the "tane's". Let's settle this once and for all ! Pick the one that you belive it is.

A) Teen
B) Tine
C) Tane

well in english if a word has two vowels next to each other you put the empahsise on the last one, so I would say "tine"

in japanese, there's a symbol for te, i, and n, there for it is te-i-n, but in japanese i sounds like "e" and e sounds like "eh", and n is just a nose sound, like u trying to take a really big dump and it's not coming out, there for it is te-e-n, yes, that's my 4 years of japanese learning skills

TheSnail
06-17-2004, 01:12 AM
Yeaaaaah ! ! ! The Teen pronouncers are head to head with the Tane's, But I think 240meowth's message is more convincing then Kouki's.

holy shit
i can't belive this thread exists.
anyway, watch this vid: http://www.tein.co.jp/teinpv.ram
the announcer says "tein" at 0:38 and it rhymes with pain

like drift101 said, tein stands for technical innovation, you can hear the announcer mention that too.

the word "tein" is a japanese-style acronym. since they don't have letters, and just characters for syllables, they can't pull off the first letters of words. they must pull of whole syllables of words to be able to write acronyms in their own characters.

no, actually, the "rule" (although its not followed all that often) is you just say the hard sound of the first vowel. but like i said, its rarely ever followed anyway.

So are you saying it's not pronounced TANE, as in rhyming with PAIN?

If so, you're contradicting the pronunciation that employees from tein themself use, so you're in a pretty bad position.

If not, I have no idea what you're talking about.
