question I have a manual 96' 240sx. I have a check engine that throws a code.
. Inhibitor switch
From what I understand, the inhibitor switch is used to detect the selector level position, and sends a signal to the automatic transmission control unit.
since i have a manual, what could be the problem?

Toraji,
Are you the original owner, or did you buy the car used? If you're not the original owner, it's possible that the previous owner could have swapped out the ECU for some unknown mechanically-related problem, OR the previous owner could have converted the tranny from auto to stick.
Only way to know for sure is to post the Diagnostic Trouble Code that the ECU kicked out. That way we can double check the code against what's listed in the FSM....
Anyhow, hope this helps... :x:
