Does anybody know how long it takes for a part to come by boat from Japan? :barf: to La Area

a couple weeks to several months. they wait for the big container ship to get completely filled up (which takes quite a while), then they sail it on over here.

Damn seamail must be the worst. I'm sure it's cheap though. Do they charge you by the pound or the distance? Or maybe just a flat fee for engine parts?
Hmmm....

if you are talking freighters they usually charge either by container or gross shipping weight

it can take a while for parts to get here i waited 5 months for my bumper it took two months for my fenders

one of the issues you have is that every thing also has to be checked through customs which can take a long time as well

yeah, seamail is incredibly cheap (comparatively). as far as i know (and i work at a shipping place), most of the places will charge by weight, size, and distance. i'm not sure about freighting companies though. its basically just luck of the draw as far as how full the boat is when they put your stuff on it.
