hey one of my first posts on here and i just got my 90' 240sx coupe. now what? the car has 156k on it and is running very strong. but before i start driving agressive what are some basic things i can do? what common problems does the 240sx encounter? (ex. mkIII supras are known for blowing head gaskets) just stuff like that, what precautions should i do to my car before i open her up?
thanks in advance

Common problems 240sx's suffer from are curbs, trees, ditches, and other immovable objects.
If you are asking how to drive aggressively, I'll ask- Why do you need to drive aggressively?
Obviously you must drive aggressively because you are on the track, wheel to wheel racing with other drivers for position. If you are not doing just that though, you don't need to be driving aggressively, quickly, or maybe driving at all!
If you want to learn how to drive your car as it is right now- go and drive in an Auto X. Get an instructor or someone faster than you to ride along in your runs. Listen to what they have to say about your driving, try and implement their suggestions. Goto another Auto X, goto another, and another, and another.
Once you've figured out how to place in the top 5 of your run group (G Stock Novice or G Stock) then goto a drift day or a open track day. By this point if your serious about driving "aggressively" you'll know what you need to do (hint- get an instructor to ride along with you)
If you want to avoid all that tedious shit and really drive aggressively just pull the ebrake on an offramp and DRIFTTTT THAAATTT SHITTTTTTT :aw:
I hope you dont plan on road racing with it. Also look at the gas prices first...you do realize the price did go up right?
Go through the usual basic tune up to start.
And what is the setup you want? Drag, AutoX, Show? Decide that and we'll go from there

hmmm, ok i wasnt at all asking how to drive, or asking what to do when going to an auto x, i wasnt asking for driving techniques and im not planning on doing uber cool freeway drifts  i was asking, since im a noob to my car, what the first basic matinence things i should do (replace susp bushings) before i really start to drive my car, even as a daily driver. just wanted to ask you all because you have 240's, what are some problems im soon to encounter?

new sparkplugs and plug wires, new air filter, fuel filter, O2 sensor. flush the radaitor, change oil and oil filter, run a tank of chevron w/ techron high test gas and add in a thing of techron addative to your tank from your auto store. bleed the breaks and check the wear on your pads... have the tires balanced, and the alignment checked... check your vaccum lines and exhaust system... check the timing
replace your front t/c bushings with poly after market ones... you could also replace tranny and diff fluid as well if you wanted to.... last but not least, wash and wax it... and armorall (sp?) the inside =) enjoy your new ride man.

The next thing to do is decide what you want to do with your car. Then once you do that, we can assist you in your endeavors. Ignore ridiculous posts and think about what you want to do. :)
