Sup everyone and anyone who does or doesn't live In Arizona but knows the answer to my question.
I need to get my s13/sr20det registered. Only thing is I need to pass emissions. I live in the Phoenix area so we do a evap smog and visual check.
I know I need to put a cat on it for one.
The motor has 70-80k miles on it so I'm going to do a oil and filter change. New spark plugs. I was wondering if I should get a new coil pack.
Is there anything else I should do to pass?
I don't want to do the denatured alch trick.or retard the timing.
Please lemme know!

The inspection is usually really easy to pass as long as the erg is there. You best bet is just to run it through and see what comes out. Once you pay once you get the second try for free if you fail

Thank you so much for replying!
Iknow there's a mechanic shop called "Japanese auto works" he's pretty good I hear. I think he does emission test to check if your car will pass or not, I'll take it to him and see. When I called he sounded Japanese so I'm sure how knows a lot about these motors/cars.
I've read people saying egr, don't know what it stands for, but I remember charcoal canister.... Ahahaha can you tell me what egr is and what it looks like/ where to install it so I can see?

So the sr20 doesn't have egr? Does it come like this stock? Or does it need to be installed?
Also again can anyone explain what egr does and what it stands for?
Thank you for your reply brndck

You should do a bit of searching on az240sx.org.
The answers you seek young padawan, can be found there, only if you must search.

I might be for now. Give it some time and research and I'll be much wiser about these cars. Everything's a learning process.
