I was installing my hks turbo timer type 1 and forgot to unplug the battery before unplugging the cluster ......... (Nob)
I unplugged the cluster to find the speedo wire to plug into the timer .. After not finding the wire I gave up on the mph feature n plugged everything back n went to my battery to connect it. N notice I forgot to disconnect it. Now my rpm n mph is not working. I purchased another cluster and installed it with the battery disconnected ; then connected it back after I was done and still nothing is working. What is my next step. I checked all fuses under the dash. KAt 97 s14

All the lights on the cluster works
Temp works
Gas works
Just my mph n rpm not working
(Rpm is not working also on my SAFC II)

Was following the steps off of this

The turbo timer is now disconnected

was it working before?

Not unplugging the battery before removing the cluster wont make any difference (assuming the car is not running). Ive done it a hundred times.

the temp/speedo/tach/gas gauges all share the same common 12v and ground, so if two of your gauges are working, then the signal wires have to be the problem.

what else have you done around the same time when the gauge failed?

you must have hooked into some wire, or unplugged the black sub-harness connector, or loosened it, bent a pin.. something.

Yes it was working before

I have only spliced into the
E brake wire
Some yellow with thin green striped wire behind the cluster. But the plug on the berry top looked different
Turned the car on. Turbo timer worked. But speedo nor rpm wasn't. So I checked the y/g wire n disconnected the turbo timer from it. N it still won't work
