hey i got a quick question. i was checking the rear pads on my s14 and when i took the pads out one of the little metal pad retainers broke from rust. i couldn't get it back in with the broken retainer so i just left them both out on that side. i drove it around for a few minutes and it seemed ok but im a bit worried. so, is it okay to leave them out? thanks! :)

I never replace 'em...
They're "anti rattle clips", and not needed. Good to have and use, but not needed.

they're just for noise reduction.... I think you can also buy the brake pad noise reduction grease/gel if yours start to make noise.... some pads come w/ those lil clips, or at least my Hakws did

yeah i left mine out the first time i did em. squeeked a little sometimes so i bought that paste that you put on the pads instead, no more noise.

The previous owner of mine didn't reuse them and they rattle alot. Can you buy them?

yeah im sure you could, but it would work just fine to get a set of decent pads with em or use that paste stuff.

You can buy them from the dealer for under $10. You can use white lithium grease to quiet the brake noise from the retaining clips as well.
