okay i have a 95 240 w/ almost 200,000 miles, and i read somewhere that the oil squirters are known for clogging on hi milage engines. so i was wondering what some of the symptoms of this would be and also how would you go about un clogging them (if at all possible)? the reason i ask is because the car runs hot, well hotter than any other s14 I've met. my old 240 ran about a quarter of the way and this one runs at the half way point, i have changed all the cooling parts except the radiator and heater core and have upgraded to an electric fan so i don't think its the cooling system and was thinking it was the oil squirters. so any help w/ this would be very much appreciated. thanks.

The stock temp gauge is NOT very accurate...it's really only a 3 position gauge:
Cold (0-150 F), "normal temp" (150-220F) , overheating (+220F)...the F temp numbers aren't exact, but close..I cannot recall exactly right now.
So don't judge by that.
Anyway, the oil squirters cool the pistons, and even if they were clogged, I doubt you'd see an increase in engine temp due to it...higher EGTs, more wear, yes. Higher engine temps...not likely.

so what do you think would cause the car to be running hot? and not to sound stupid but im not sure what EGT's are or is. sorry. so if you could tell me. i went looking for it but everything just said EGT not what it was, im assuming its a measuring device of sorts maybe for heat. but im not sure so a little help w/ that would really help. im just concerned. i think im going to go buy a new temp sending unit to see if its just faulty equipment because its causing my secondary fan to come on all the time. thank you for all your help
