H.u.d and speed sensor question

Hey guys, I have a question that I can't figure out. So, can I use a black top speed sensor with my heads up display? Previous shop took out my motor and some how they ripped it out and messed up my speed sensor....

Here is what I'm running
-black top motor
-89 coupe
-dohc rpm tachometer from my old hatch(dohc)with my h.u.d originally from the car

Previously I was running a ka dual cam speed sensor and it was reading it just fine, I could actually see how fast I was going. Now, is it ok if I run the black top speed sensor or stay with the old ka one???

I have a spare black top sensor

Kade, kae, s13 red top/black top= same VSS. "MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS!". Yes, you can use which ever aforementioned VSS w/ your current cluster.




The s14 Ka's also have the same VSS. I do believe that the plugs are different though.


Think about it, (if you didn't know) all of the aforementioned engines utilize the same manual transmissions. Minus the bell-housings between the ka/sr.

Thanks for the input. I just find it strange that my HUD was working just fine with a kade s13 sensor. I just installed a blacktop speed sensor today and it just stays at 0mph, but my rpm's work ;)
