Did you fix it or just hide it? To each their own I guess.

Not a fan of the pattern but looks like a good idea. May have to try to wrap mine in some black material.

It looks like you spent some time on it, and good on you for trying your hand at making your dash better.

It still looks like butt though. Just find an uncracked one and sacrifice small children on it to keep it fresh.

This could have been 10x better if you didn't rush and took your time making the pattern line up. People do the same shit with door panels that have linear patterns. Its linear.....it needs to be in a straight line or it looks bad.

It was a solid first attempt.

Where you messed up:
1. You used something with such a distinct pattern. Where you cut it and stretched it stands out more than where you lined it up.

2. Bright colors and glossy materials on your dash will cause horrible glaring on your windshield... Not that it's ever sunny in Pittsburgh.

What adhesive did you use? Did you fix the crack before you wrapped it? If not, it may become more apparent as time goes on.

IMHO the best fabric to use for first time wrapping something is solid color fleece. It's cheap, it can be stretched more than most fabrics and it's soft. Bitches love soft stuff.

My suggestion of how you should fix a cracked dash. Pics are of 2 different dashes because I didn't wrap the FG one, I didn't FG the wrapped one, and I haven't gotten to my s13 dash that needs both cracks fixed and wrapped.

This dash was cracked to hell. Only pic I have of it before was in the car when stripping the interior.

Fiberglass, then sand

bondo it to get the pinholes out, then sand

Then wrap it. In this case we painted it.

In this case we wrapped it in tweed.

3M Hi-strength 90 spray adhesive is what I've found works great for wrapping. That dash now has over 4 years on it and looks just like that.

This was actually a $10 Jo Ann fabric job haha. Sanded down everything and removed what was cracked and just went at it. I believe the adhesive was some 3m spray.
Buy another dash < Spend $10 and see what it looks like

There's no reason to keep ruining S13 dashes.

^^ I have this Coverlay and it fits perfectly. Texture is slightly different, and there is a line by the passenger's knee on the console - 240 people might notice it right away but most will never know.

I haven't glued it in yet - I am going to try to fix my one fresh dash crack directly over the cluster with plastic filler called Speed Grip and some sanding and textured paint. (Inspiration from Broadfield's posts showing plastic molding & finishing).

^ definitely keep us updated on that, I always like seeing different ways to do interiors.

Those cover lay things look cool, but if executed right, I think wrapping looks way cooler and even if you fiberglass you're still looking at $100 cheaper. Guess it all depends on how much you think your time is worth.

Made it look worse. I'd rather have a cracked to hell dash then that.

should've used something a little more sleek.

Dude, just buy a non cracked dash around your town. I'm pretty sure someone has a dash that is in mint condition willing to sell it. Hell just go to the WTB section and ask for one. Honestly it looks like shit not trying to be a dick or anything but yeah.

Came in here expecting to see someones write up on how to fix a dash. No clue why I was expecting that. Its pretty sad when a screwed up cracked dash is preferred.
