So i came outside and some drunk butt pirate hit my car in just the right spot. insurance wants to total it. No bueno because you know that dont give a crap about the SR or front Clip or full 180sx interior conversion so i aint crap for a check. So back to my question what would u do? I think im going buy car back and do overfenders suck ill have a salvage title but i really dont care. or use check to buy clean shell and swap everything. Honestly, that's a relatively simple fix. I definitely wouldn't swap the parts over to another chassis if yours is clean aside from that new damage. Also, unless you plan on throwing some much wider wheels on the car with the widebody, I wouldn't go that route either. Drive around and get some estimates from reputable shops. Use that against the insurance company.

In the future tell the insurance company about all the parts in the car. They do give a shit but only if you give them a chance.

do research on the value of the parts added and what a vehicle like yours goes for in today's market. share info with insurance and you'll lessen the chance of it being totaled plus receive proper compensation for the damages.

I'm in the same boat as you. State Farm just totaled my car after some girl (whom I have other choice names for because she came to my house to harass me when it was her fault...) merged in to my lane. The damage on the car really doesn't look too bad either. They basically told me that market value of my car is around $3k. The estimated damage is around $2300. I told my agent about the parts I have on my car and he pitched it to the adjuster. It didn't really help. :(

Having gone through insurance myself recently and rebuilt the title as salvaged. I would say don't go through insurance if you can help it. But it sounds like in your case it's not possible.

Adjuster said its only preliminary. Going to grab quotes tom. CrimsonRockett hooked me up with a guy and guy that does my motor work also has a friend.

I have a friend who works for a shop and I can refer you to them. They helped my mom with her insurance quote and fixed he car when she got hit.

Also, a tip is to add the parts to the insurance policy BEFORE anything happens. I plan to do this as soon as I paint my car. I got quoted for 10K worth of parts plus the value of the car and my insurance is only going up by $8 or $16 a month.

so dropping car of saturday getting repaired and painted. wasnt really ready to come out of pocket for a paint job but now my car wont be 5 different colors. need a driverside silvia fender if anyones got one. sticking with the burgundy and painting the roof black for a little bit of a custom look. get some high quotes to get the damage fixed from some legit shops, take the quote to insurance. If they give you a shit check you can fight for more cash. I got his twice and both times I received 3k, 6k in a total before my car became "salvage" for a 96 s14 lol.

So, you did or didn't take the total?

Cause you can sometimes just get them to pay you right under the total amount and let you keep your title, and everybody walks away quickly and easily, it costs them less money than totaling it and saves you a pain in the ass, and money, to get it re-inspected or whatever, etc.
