I just got screwed out of service for an hour or two. My computer buddy says it's partly because of some virus called nimda or something that replicates by pinging people's computers until it finds one it can replicate in, thus starting again. Anyone hear anything like that?

Nimda is well over a month old, so thats not it (unless its in your local network or on your computer). I know zilvia.net was down for a little while either early thismorning or late last night (depending on where you live) But my internet has been up all day as far as I know.

Edit: OK i just lost my connection too, only lasted for a minue tho. I dono whats up...

Must have been your ISP. I have a cable modem service with @home AT&T and there are times when the service is out for an entire night. I've heard DSL connections also go out every now and then.

Tru, mine does go out every now and again, could just be a coincidence (sp?)

Yeah, I think it's the dumbass DSL service.

Zilvia does go down sometimes, I think it's because of so many people hitting the site. Mark is expecting V3 to come in pretty soon, that should eliminate this. (Better server?)

S13Grl I don't think it's a better server, I think it's a more stable software platform. Kinda like going from Windows ME to Lennox (i know someone out there knows what I'm talking about ) The new software probably won't crash and have so many bugs, but thats just my guess.

Yeah, I wasn't sure either, that's why I put a question mark next to it, smartie-pants! Just kidding!

Regardless. I can't get my e-mail off of Zilvia for some reason (server unavailable) so... that sux!

actually nimda is still around, it hibernates and then reinfects, probably going to be around for a while.

Linux?

I hate Windows ME. Those of you who have Windows 98, keep it! WinME crashes even more than Win98. BSOD!! Dunno about XP. Crashing seems to be Microsoft's trademark. Even a lot of their X-box kiosks crashed. I hope Microsoft's softwares never get integrated into cars or airplanes. >_<

And as far as I know, most viruses don't self-destruct. You just need to get patches for them. You can avoid nearly all the viruses you hear about in the news by not using Microsoft Outlook for your e-mails. Netscape mail is a good alternative.

My computer geek friends trash me endlessly for this, but personally I think Win95 was fine! I never had problem one with it. 98, if you try to play mp3's on winamp while surfing the net, it skips like crazy. I used to be able to open up photoshop on my laptop with winamp running, and the music didn't skip.

Dang I nearly posted on how I like Win2000 myself. Not as likely to crash cause it was built on the old NT software I want it on my computer but i'm lazy
