well its on and the pics, ill grab some tomorrow

s15 rear subframe with all SPLParts.com adjustable arms (except rear lower control arm) and rear z32 brakes (drum and disk) were installed this past 2 days.

THANKS TO GARAGE WORKS www.garageworksltd.com
they can add s15 subframe swap knowledge and rear z stuff to their list hehe..and yes there were lots of little tricks and do dads we had to do to make the subframe fit perfect and get it all right...

also thanks
for letting me use their lift and tools and helping me, without them i'd probably be in the hospital in a coma after 4 days under my car with a subframe atop my head.

anyways, it was pretty easy job just time consuming. still got some fine tuning to do but nothing crazy

pics coming soon

the subframe was so pimp before going in
clean oem newish looking frame all black and shiney with all chrome SPLparts.com PRO rucas (S13), forward link (s14) and toe link (s14) and then to top it off, rear z32 brakes, i swear those rotors are bigger then stock s13 fronts!!

the drums DO work, we fabbed up a ebrake, who ever said its hard to do is a jackass, mike (garage works), did it mega fast on the welder and its very nicely made (though a prototype) and works fantastic. i cant be more pleased

garage works saved my ass!!

and i love using air tools, it was so much easier hahahaha..

it looks hot. mm im so happy

pics tomorrow sometime

what kind of advantage does the S15 subframe give you, though?? i thought the S13 had a solid diff mount to start with.... wouldn't that be "better"??

i thought it was hard to do untill i did it on my "new" s14 using the stock e-brake cable and bracket..... the setup I have has been working great ever since I got the car.

pics tomorrow sometime
awww... but we want it NOW!! :p

ace! it has better anti-squat, the angles of the LCA are different, its stiffer and its wider (trac) by 10mm total then s13 subframe

it is solid mount diff too, i used the same pumpkin, just swapped rear covers (to s14), the rear is still bushing? i am not sure, same rear mounting style as s14

it was cool having this car. because when we dropped the old subframe..not one single spot of rust on the subframe OR the chassis. i love california!!!

sounds nice. very nice. was it just trial/error to find the mixmatched parts that fit it?
what are the little 'do dads'?

very nice... damn aaron i think you have the nicest suspension setups here on the board. I like how you're still sporting the KA but you have buttloads of suspension stuff.
Come down here to texas whenever drift association do another event here. I'm pretty sure texans will be ready to face you californians by then ;)

actually KA will be gone by july :) FINALLY. its falling apart on me. litterally. 2 years of abuse have taken its toll, things are breaking...often! sigh..

Hahahaha... seeing the way you're using the car.. im not surprised at all
thats how cars are supposed to be driven anyways... HARD until it breaks a part! :)

Congrats Aaron!! I always highly respected your skills as a driver and your priorities as a tuner. It is true when bbandit said you had one of the best suspension on the board. Congrats on getting a new engine too! You will kick some serious ass. ! :D

woah thanks a lot for the compliments! [blushes]
i still have lots ot learn. but my car isnt setup for much beyond drifting. its hard going grip with my setup, i have to do a lot to get it right (mostly tires)

but the suspension is nearly done. i didnt have enough money for s15 rear lower control arms (nismo) and my biggeset part im missing is front endlinks for the tie rods!1 argh, car is so lwo but using stock (tein is about same size) endlinks! :(

the engine will be nice, nothing too fancy first in bt getting lots of goodies for cheap in the coming months so by years end should be really nice, of course my tuning is always RESPONSE not into max power and such, just smooth and responsive. so we'll see how it goes.

the only thing i hate about my car is the wheels..fn01rc. ugh!!!

pics tomorrow for sure. adjusting drums and my frien dhas digital camera, ill grab some pics.

Well, for response, it's very hard to beat an S15 turbo on a SR20DET.. :) Just a little heads up!

And I do know that your suspension setup is a little extreme for my use... But I take into considering that you have an almost perfect setup for what you like best. :D

actually i get that in july haha..its already laid out. :) doing s15 turbine, cams, headgasket, 550s, z32maf, turbo elbow, ss lines and um..i think that was it at the same time. probably in oct time frame or so...not sure. list always changes by the time i remember things and check my list of stuff to buy

You won't regret it... that's very similar to my setup (minus cams, hg and turbo elbow) and I did 307 at the wheels at 19 psi. However I daily drive it a 12 psi

The Z32 rear has a drum setup for the E-brake, and a 2 pistons disk setup for regular braking duty.

hahahaha!! hard?? try easy: S15 turbo on a KA :P

Hmm... reason i ask is I've been looking at tucking the subframe closer to the chassis for better lower control arm angles, actually. As it is, even with subframe spacers bringing the subframe up, I can't lower the car much more than I already have without losing ideal suspension geometry. Any idea what kind of a change you get with the S15 subframe (in terms of change in distance from LCA mounts to chassis)??

The only other thing I've been able to think of is to use custom spindles...

ah!
try my gf's supra engine with an s15 turbo.. that would spool even quicker.. ;)

You get the point... :p

i dont think s15 subframe fits s14 though
im sure the LCAs might work but i know the subframe itself wont
s14 is quite wider i have been told...like you cant put s14 subframe on s13..s15 is close to s13 but the bushings are 5mm wider (out) then s13 so takes some squeezing to get them on.

AKADriver
06-10-2004, 11:56 PM
S14 rear track spec is 10mm wider (1470mm) compared to S13 and S15 rear track (1460mm).. though, I wonder if the S14 subframe mounts the same as the S15 subframe but has longer arms. I'm assuming since the S15 subframe itself is 10mm wider, that they would've had to shorten the arms compared to the S13 to get the same track. Or am I way off?

putting S13, S14, and S15 RLCAs all side by side would settle it... of course, who's got all that? :p

Show us the brakes foo!

Wanna see how you did it.

Did Estevan handle the custom work for mounting the lines and such?

wow, thats clean... how long did it take? like how many weekends? One of the two front diff bolts cracked on me... got it out, put in a new one and it just spins freely = welding magic or new subframe for me :/ Im not hardcore enough to look for a s15, so I'd settle for a s13 subframe since the s14 one is too wide...

BTW, nice write up + pics. thanks :]

Dousan_PG
06-25-2004, 08:18 PM
how many weekends? WHAT? haha
wtf you tlaking about?
how about...one evening!!!

i love s14 diff cover, easier to change oil then my s13 one

oh feel
feels badass
its vrey stable..its very different, going thru the canyons and grippng on the track, the rear end feels to squat and hold..its really weird feeling...beyond stable..i used to feel the rear end ready to come out..at about same speeds, its feels unbelievelbly stable...

even jeremy (the guy w/ the gold s13 coupe) said my car felt REALLY stable drifting around the track

righ tnow my drum shoes are POO POO
so i got PROJECT MU ones from Splparts that are going in tomrrow

hehehehe

more ot come later, lots of drifting this weekend. fixed my alignment oto..now got about -3 in rear..i did it myself. the alignment rack was goofy because i had 5mm wider track and it threw it off i guesss..

anaywys,, this subframe is MEGA stalbe i think..I THINK

SR coming up in a week or 2 so it will be nice addition hehehehehheeh..

Holy shiot! Where the hell have I been, I didn't even see this thread! Props to you as always Aaron. Sexiest s13 ever. Cant say how jealous I am of the s15 subframe, wish it was cheap and easier to do that setup. :( Sorry if I missed it in the thread but I assume from what was said its unknown or not possible to put a s14 subframe in a s13? Has it ever been attempted to anyone's knowledge?

Also, I know everyone wants more pics, I'm sure its annoying. But if you get time take some pics of how they fabbed the EBrake, or elaborate a little :)
