What are you using? What type of racing/driving do you do?
I am getting into road courses and auto-crosses, and I'm trying to get better cornering (that was not good grammar, but you get the idea. :p).
I have a '98 s14 with Eibach ProKits, KYB AGX shocks/struts, and I'm fitting up the 300zx vLSD shortly. My next item on the suspension setup is sway bars / strut braces.
What size do you recommend?
And, I'm not too big on looks, but I think a front strut brace looks pretty good, but I don't want a stiff sway bar + a stiff strut brace up front to induce under-steer. And this is a daily driver, so it can't be TOOO stiff on my bottom. :hyper: So, should I get a stiffer rear sway + a front strut brace? Or should I just skip the strut brace and get a set of sway bars?
HELP?

i think sway bars help out with handling a lot more than strut tower braces, especially if you have a base model. im gonna be pickin up a set of suspension techniques sways if that group buy is still goin on for em. i think they are 21mm rear and 29mm front, or somethin close to that. i hope to have the same strut/spring combo as you by the end of summer, let me know how you like it all :)

most hard sway bars come as a matched set, so they help the car stay flat in cornering, but don't affect understeer/oversteer characteristics too much.
you can change under/oversteer by using mismatched or adjustable sway bars, or by adding a strut bar to only the front or rear

I have the SE model, which I believe has sway bars stock.
So, strut tower braces don't help that much?

they do different things. the anti sway bar reduces body roll, strut bars add stiffness. so comparing them really won't tell you anything. if you feel your car leaning to one side while turning, the anti sway bar will help correct that, the strut bars won't.
hope this helps, but I'm sure someone else will add to this.

1. good tires
2. sways
3. strut bars - probably the least important as far as suspension upgrades go

ST sways on my car, and I autox it. They work just fine.
I autoxed an S14 with cusco bars once too and it didn't feel terribly different.

I say get the vlsd first and see where you're at. Putting stiffer ASBs on before hand will make the open diff even more annoying.
For the ASBs, you're just going to have to play with it. It's mostly personal preference. I have WL adjustables and I try to run the minimum stiffness that I can get away with. On a tight course, I even disconnect the front completely. Then again, I'm one of those screwballs that doesn't think stiffer=better.
STB? Bleh, the only time I think I can tell a difference is on turn-in with r-comps. Thing is tho, they're so cheap that you may as well get one. That way you won't be wondering if your alignment is getting skewed from the towers flexing.

i have the ST rear sway on my base model s14. i think just having the rear helped alot with eliminating understeer.

I got the ST kit for my base S14. I put the rear in first and drove it around for a week cause it rained during the install. I think it tended to oversteer in hard cornering. once I put the front bar in it was heaven. The thing is huge and keeps the nose planted.

I've got a '97 LE w/ H&R sports, KYB AGXs, Whiteline adjustable front and rear swaybars, a full set of Whiteline polyurethane bushings, and a Whiteline strut brace.
The strut brace is noticeable. I'd say its worth the minimal cost for the added benefit. The bushings are a pain in the ass, but well worth it... Espescially the TC Rod bushings.
As for the sway bars... they are extremely impressive. I did a lot of research into the bars and found that the Whitelines are used extensively both on the track and on the street. The front is a 27mm solid bar, and the rear a 22mm solid bar. I have absolutely no complaints about the Whiteline products.
check out the product at http://www.whiteline.com
i made my purchase from http://www.pdm-racing.com
good luck!

My race car setup:
Full spherical bushings
450lb/350lb springs
Whiteline front swaybar w/spherical adj. endlinks
No rear bar
Car was scary loose with the rear bar in. Most people who race the 240sx run no rear bar, or a very small one.
