Good eve,
How do you gentlemen save the environment with your race cars? What are the offerings as far as hi-flow catalytic converters go?

Here are the ones I am aware of:
APEXi Super Catalyzer (3", only costs 800$)
Catco (3", seems to be a popular choice)
Magnaflow (2.5" and 3", not sure if these are actually hi-flow)
OBX (2.5", junk or not?)
Random Technology (diameter? Looks pretty)

Does anyone have any input on any of those? Are there others?
Are all catalytic converters directional? The Catco one, for example, seems to have an arrow illustrating the direction of flow.
Cheers.

I had an apexi one for a while but never installed it.
Non-directional afaik.

Directional only matters if it is a 3-way converter. I'm also looking for a high-flow converter that will effectively reduce emissions, as we still have tail pipe sniffers in Ontario.

Magnaflow 3" or larger spun metallic catalytic converter. I have one.

I was going to go Catco until I decided that the world is already doomed.

Vibrant also makes em

Catco is a great choice, they flow well and don't rob much power. I switch back and forth with a test pipe on my sr20det, and the power loss is minimal.

i had a catco. didnt help my KA pass emissions.

Vibrant makes great stuff too.

Keep in mind that a catalytic converter like this isn't going to do magic for your emissions test: if your engine is far off, adding one of these ain't going to get it to pass.

I had a Catco as well, the power difference between a test pipe and the catco was non-existent.. Really helped clean up the tone with my straight pipe.

Found it brand new locally for $60

Yeah I run one just for tone/drone while daily driving

Most catalytic converters that are advertised as "high flow" are not TRULY HIGH FLOW. Most of them are simply smaller elements, which isn't truly high flow. There is a measurement of the size of the "mesh" of the cat that makes it TRULY high flow. I forget what it's called though.

There is no emissions testing here in Missouri. Even so, lately I feel that not having a catalytic converter is kind of immature.
Though I mainly want one to make my car extra quiet. Saving the Earth is just a byproduct. :)

High flow cats are measured by "cell count". 400 cell is going to clean the best but flow the least, 300, 200, and 100 flow more and clean less in their respective order. I was going to order one of these:

MBS 4" 100 cell (CPSI) High-Flow Race Converter (http://www.mandrelbendingsolutions.com/servlet/the-812/100%2Ccpsi%2C-Cell%2C-Hi-dsh-Flow%2C-High%2C/Detail)

Vibrant advertises these as the highest flowing/toughest on the market:

Um.. yes there is, that is based off where you live. 1996 and newer cars in St Louis require both emissions and safety inspection.

Please accept this most sincere apology along with a correction to my previous statement on record:
There is no emissions testing in Missouri, unless you operate a 1996 or newer vehicle in one of the four counties and one independent city pictured below. The other one hundred and ten counties in Missouri do not require an emissions test.
