Hey guys im dealing with a weird issue on my sr I bought the car with the swap already in it. its a 93 240sx coupe with an s13 sr20 blacktop. now the issue that im having is the car has a very high idle,I checked the usually vacuum leaks, tps sensor, iacv, an also switched ecu's just cause it was available. Anyway I decided to take off the valve cover an set the motor to tdc with the front cam lobes facing opposite of each other, and to my surprise the cas is off about 90 degrees so I set up the cas popped it in ( i've done a bunch of these so I have the knowledge an experince to do it) and the car doesnt run. so I proceeded checking everything out making sure all grounds are installed, making sure no wires got pulled or anything. Finally I decided to put the cas back the way it was before 90 degrees off an the freakin car turns right on, I couldnt belive it.what would cause this issue? I am assuming that the timing cant be right but its just crazy because the car turns right on does not hesitate at all has good power but the idle is at 2000 rpms. when the car warms up the idle starts to hunt basically going from 2000 rpms to 1500. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated thank you.

Get a timing light, set the ecu into timing mode, adjust base idle and then set the timing to 15deg btdc. Doing this will bring the idle down, it should be done after the engine has warmed up. You may have to adjust both again, if either change while adjusting the other. Im also assuming you're on comp stroke at tdc.

well here is a quick update to what is going on.I put the timing light on the car and with the car idling better now the timing marks are no where near where they should be but the car is still idling perfect i just cant seem to figure out why if i line everything up a tdc an redo the cas the car will not run its very frustrating. my conclusion is that the previous owner may have redid the timing chain and maybe installed it wrong i just am not sure.
