Well i was in the garage and found some thick round tubing and thought to myself, im cheap, broke, and like to attempt to do things myself. so i said why not lets make a C-pillar bar! But yea basicially its about 1.5" in width and the sidewalls are pretty dam thick, i put each end on some wood and stood on it to see if it would flex and it didnt so i was satisfied it would be worth my time. well heres the pic, its really easy to make and most of all i can keep my rear seatbelts

i have no driving impressions on it yet cuz i havent drove to see if theres any diff but im sure it reduces some flex and is more stiff. But ill post with some more pics tomorrow and tell u what i think of it. I cant complain it was free and i was bored so wth why not

You sqashed the ends then drilled the hole, right? Looks nice. My friend did the same thing exept he must of picked the uglyest pipe to use. Im sure your's is just as good as all other strut bars.

yup u got me there snail, i used a vise to crimp the ends and then used a hammer with some padding over it to flatten it, then drilled some holes and filed them a lil bit. i was gonna paint it for some bling factor but fuck it too lazy to take back off. but i highly recomend this to anyone with an hour of their time and like 5 bucks

hmm... if you welded in a down tube, that's about the right angle for a harness to mount to!

yeeeah i saw this in person and its really stiff...job well done!...now u can use that extra cash and lets go to KFC and get honey bbq wings...but u know i always be on that #3 combo though!

please don't mount a harness to that...

conduit is hollow, correct? i duno about that thing.. i think it will be pretty flimsy and sorta just absorb flex and bend the tube instead of trying to stiffen anything up. then again, if its solid and u were able to stamp the sides down.. then = )

AceInHole

it's stiffer than the air that normally occupies that space.

its stiff stiffer then cusco rear strut bars, i can stand on that tubing and it wont flex like a cusco stb would. i couldnt even get it to flex, try putting force or pushing on a stb and it will flex, push on my cpillar bar and it dosent flex. thx for the support ace and yea thats why i made it because i knwo it will make some difference if not a big difference. if ur straped for cash all u need is 4 feet of tubing diameter and sidewall thickness is up to you

lol. my cusco STB doesn't flex o.O maybe it's defective??
my cusco lower tie bar doesn't flex either.... it just creaks like crazy.

i'm working on making something like what you made, except i'm trying to set mine up with an adjustable peice to pre-compress it using my leftover adjustable TC rod.

I hope you know that Roll cages, and many strut bars out there are hallow.

And like AceInHole said, it makes the car a lot stiffer than the air that previously occupied that space.

it wasn't ghetto at all, he told me it was noticeably stiffer though.

just becarful when welding to conduit, it's galvinized and releases toxic gas when welded on.

Looks good, and for those who don't belive how stiff it is, i'll take a peice from the garage tomarrow, place it on 2 cinderblocks and jump up and down on it. That stuff, might bend a 16th of an inch...on the otherhand if you did that to a stb....

phrozen

stb would bend... i can put enough force on a stb with 1 hand to make it bend

wow thanks for the idea man. even though i don't have a hb i decided to put one on my kouki and it feels real solid! i used the same conduit as you after i decided not to go galvonized because i figured that would be too hard to form and painted it a trashy color (black with multisparklezzZzS) and blam. if it was made of a stronger metal i don't see why a harness bar would be so bad but it probably wouldn't be any stronger than the other spot so i don't see why you would do it, but its doable.
