Just got this from PLMS development. Its an s13 sr20det daughterboard that allows you to tune your stock ecu. Whats great is that it comes with a 4 map switch. This allows you to have different tunes for different conditions like says higher octane, more boost, hot day, cool night, nitrous, water injection.... I've been tuning 300zx ecu's for awhile and now I get to start in on my sr. I already have tunes for bigger injectors, bigger maf's, and all that great stuff. And guess what? It was only $150 shipped. http://www.tangentrix.com/forums/files/daughterboard.jpg

thats pretty sweet! Halo's got something like that allows him to switch between 4 different maps. Maybe the same thing? I dunno. I want to do something like this when I get a chace to get to a dyno. Do you have it installed yet?

Sounds very nice. How do you create these progs for the chip though? Is this something that is fairly easy to do?

Mike, *cough* cross site post whore *cough* . Just kidding. What do they give your for sockets?

Any clue if you can drop them an extra $50 for ZIFs?

^^^^^^^HAHAHA

do they make something like that for the s14 with a KA?!?

good idea about the zif's. Jameco has them for $10 a piece. It uses machined tooled sockets and the eproms can be removed fairly easily. Currently im still using romeditor from 925style to tune my roms for the sr. Ive got my tune about done for the z32 maf and 550's. Who needs JWT and their $500+ pricetag anymore? Im going to solder in the daughterboard today and I'll let you know how it works.

I'm about to order mine from PLMS, but w/o the map switcher probably.

How did the install go? What maps do they have for pre-programing?

sr240mike

Install is very easy if you know how to solder/desolder well. The jumper is very small and hard to handle. Just ask them what maps they will give you for free. I have plenty of .bins if you have an eprom programmer. Or I could send you them preprogrammed for about $5.00 a chip.

Ya screw JWT and their 500 dollar pricetag. Not cause i dont like them as a company, but i hate any company that essentially has a monopoly over a market. That gives them reason to be assholes(not saying they are) and pick and choose their jobs and have a shitty turn-around time on jobs. This seems more promising .

Its not their fault if they have a monopoly. Tuning the stock ecu to be just as good if not better than a standalone is about $200 away.

I got the exact same thing. :) 4 functionnal fuel maps. :) switchable while driving. :)

Standalone vs. Tuned ECU (not JWT)...
Is there really a big difference? besides price and a standalone could probably be tuned by more shops. I would assume both of these options would be better than piggyback computers.

My problem with a JWT tuned ecu is that it's not tuned to my car, my exact set-up on a dyno, like I think it should be. The tune could be a lot more aggressive safely if done on a dyno IMO.

true...

that is why you must have your own tuner with access to a dyno with wideband o2 sensor. :)

That was a dumb answer. They dont sell them on ebay. The ebay ones dont even compare to PLMS.

yeah, there is one on ebay right now but I'm not puting it into MY ecu.

I'm email badbiki to see if he can get me one. I'd still preferr PLMS but I want to get this done asap

and btw - I got my daughterboard and it is installed and running. I got the 4map switch too. Right now I am just running the stock map. I have 2 more 27f010 chips on order so I will be playing with them as soon as they come in. I also just got the willems programmer.

This stuff is fun!

JWT does NOT have a monopoly.

You can get your shit reflashed by Enthalpy. Not only is he fast, he's also BETTER!

I'm pretty sure he does reflashes for KA's too...

sr240mike

JWT does have a monopoly over most nissan stock ecu tuning in the U.S. Enthalpy can't tune s14 sr's can he? I've been hearing that the s13 sr20det daughterboards work on ka24de ecu's but I havent tried this yet.
Unless you go directly to JWT to have your car tuned on the dyno you will receive a tune that is safe, but won't make the most power. Nobody can just send you a chip and expect it to make the most horsepower for your setup.

Enthalpy cannot tune S14 SR20 yet. But he is working on it. He can do S13 SR and KA just fine.

As far as the tune, same deal with Enthalpy, obviously he cannot tune safely for anyone unless the car is there, but I can say with great certainty that his reflashes will outperform JWT setups.

He recommends you get some dyno tuning dome with some sort of piggyback setup once you get the flash.

I have seen greater results with Enthalpy's work than I have JWT, and I have heard much more positive experience, so if I do go with a reflash, it won't be with JWT.

He has much better prices than JWT. He's on freshalloy.com a lot. You can find him there.
