hey,
i take my car in tonight to get the exhaust checked out. my muffler disconnected itself from the rest of the exhaust, but was still holding on. the muffler "rack"-for lack of a better term was rusted so i just ripped it off. im getting a new custom cat-back non mendrel bent tho. i dont know if my car is too rusted out or f'd up to do this tho. im hopin and prayin its not. cuz then i have to wait till summer when i do my restoration of the exterior to get the new exhaust put on. im hoping they can weld my old muffler on there cuz it sounded good before holes formed in the tubing. if not, i want to buy a new muffler. i went into the local parts shop and asked what kind of mufflers they can supply me. they grabbed a whole 6 inch book and asked me what i need. im like, ummm, i dont know what kind of tubing they are putting on, what kind of offset i may need, etc. so when they check it out tonight, i will go back to the parts shop and tell em what i need, if i even need a new one.
im really nervous tho cuz my car is in rough shape and this job may be undoable. just hopin and prayin its not gonna be more than they usually charge for custom cat-backs, which is about 100 bucks.
also, the rest of the tubing looks pretty bad, so i may need to get that redone too. i dont know how much extra that'l add to my bill, but i hope its unnecesary to redo.
if i get a new muffler, what should i get, im tryin to decide between dual tip, or single. im sure most of you have already read my post in off-topic about me bein new cuz i mentioned the exhaust. im startin to lean towards dual simply because it looks pretty good on an s13. what do you guys think about the single vs dual??
