Hey guys been looking around and still no luck. I have a 91 240sx ka24de. Bought the car and installed the engine myself. problem is that I am not getting any spark. The car will crank strong but wont turn over. My question is, is it possible to get fuel pressure with a possibly fried ECU (does not light up when ignition on and will not throw codes) . I can no longer hear the fuel pump prime but I do see that I am getting pressure through the sender line and smell fuel. I understand that I cannot get spark without the ECU so just trying to troubleshoot this.

Car was sitting in a backyard and I found what looked to be as lizard eggs INSIDE the ecu:eek3:
-changed plugs
-coil
-battery is good
-checked fuses
-tdc correct

My next step is ridding of this shady harness and ecu.

any input would be helpful'

Check were the ecu plugs in on the pass side kick panel. Check and make sure all those plugs even the body harness plugs are all the way in. I had this same problem and it ended up being that the plugs were just a hair away maybe 1mm from being in all the way. Started right up. You should be able to hear the fuel pump when ign is on. A few things you could try:

Disconnect the fuel line going to the rail and have a friend put the ign on and look for gas coming out

Triple check timing on crank and dist and firing order with the wires.

If those things don't work maybe swap pump or try another ecu.

Yeah I dont hear the pump and Im not getting any spark. Both require signals from the ecu to do so, so hopefully thats the problem. Ive checked everything from the distributor down and the ignition switch and fuses. The harness is a little sketchy so hopefully thats the problem. there were a few smaller cut wires.

I just double checked my fuses and everything checks out. I'm changing out the engine bay wiring harness today though, I just don't see why the ecu isn't getting any power. Only thing I'm not too confident about is the engine grounds

Yea I'll be cleaning and possibly adding more grounds. My fuses and relay are good too, the last guy that had my car did a lousy job on the alarm so I have cut wires under my dash. :(

Yeah I have an alarm system spliced in with hundreds of wires.. let me know if you find out what the problem is!!

For sure, I'll try to work on it today and see what I can find.

It's gotta be the wiring, at first my car wouldn't turn over until I found a spliced wire under the dash (black and yellow) after I connected voila the car turns over but no fuel.

Have you checked your relays? Listen for clicking or try swapping one.

Fuel lines crossed?, no fuel pump priming either? Check your fuel pump fuse in the passenger side of the engine bay. Check to make sure you haven't bent/crimped your fuel lines.

PS: Hawaii sounds like a lot of fun

Thanks for all the advice guys, I decided to change the engine harness bc there seemed to be too many smalll cut wires. I somehow managed to be missing 3 grounds on the old harness. Hooked everything back up and just like that, the ecu turmed on.. fuel pump priming and all. Too bad the battery was dead so no crank action. I'll get back to you all tomorrow with a new battery. Too excited

Glad to hear you made some progress, I cleaned up my grounds and wondered why my cluster never turned on, well it turns out the past owner forgot to mention is was never connected. It turns on now and I noticed I also have a low battery. Ill keep you updated.Good Luck brotha!
