We at Zilvia are well aware that the forum is being inundated with fake users/spam bots. Unfortunately, until a few new precautions and measures are put in place, there will be problems with spam.
In the meantime, us moderators and admins receive dozens upon dozens of alert emails everyday with reported spam bot threads. To make our lives a bit easier, if you report a thread that was made by a spam bot please follow these simple rules...
1) DO NOT CLICK ANY OF THE LINKS POSTED UNLESS YOU WANT A NASTY LITTLE VIRUS OR MALWARE INSTALLED ON YOUR COMPUTER/PHONE!!!
2) If you see a thread that includes the above text, PLEASE DONT REPORT IT AGAIN! The spam bot AND thread will be banned/deleted within a few minutes to a few hours of the thread being reported depending on when one of us is available to do so.
3) DO NOT QUOTE SPAM BOTS POST IN YOUR REPLY!
So, please help the moderators and admins on Zilvia by following the above rules. We will one day do completely away with this new onslaught of annoying forum spammers, but until then, we appreciate everyone pitching in to help out! :)

eh, theyre not people. its a computer program that knows how to exploit certain aspects of the registration process. all of them are banned, including regional IP bases, but they just keep coming. its really annoying. there will be a few changes happening soon (from what ive been told) that will prevent MOST of them from making it thru.
why don't you add a captcha to the registration process?

i believe captcha is being used, however, i will let the senior admins/mods take this question as i dont want to give false info (im not involved in that part of the site)

dorki i am gonna report you for being the main spam bot!!!
jk
I am probably one of the main people who reply in the spam threads with smartass remarks and comments regarding the spam because it really aggravates me that they actually go as far as posting on our forum with this random mess. They usually are threads that have something to do with a movie or something of that nature. I hope sooner or later we can take care of this and end the spam bots.

Thanks and you guys do a great job deleting them quickly! Unfortunately the forum will probably have to give up some features (like posting from new account immediately) that will inconvenience some people. Hopefully the forum software has some new anti-spam features in it that can be tried out.
With such an active forum any SW changes are bowel-clenching events for admins though - good luck! (Can you tell I work with servers? ha ha ha)

wow what a coincidence
what saved me from spambots in my own forum was a question at registration...specifically it was "how many wheels does a car have? write four" (for the stupid ones)
funny, but that has kept some people off the forum that were too stupid to even sort this out.

the spam is super terrible here lately.
my suggestion: add a "captcha" requirement to new thread submissions.
delete the 30 seconds in between posts requirement while youre at it, so annoying when trying to report spam/use the search function.

Curious if anyone reads this thread if they could let me know why my account "mongomery1234" was ban for "spam bot". The only posts to my knowledge that were made were for me selling a stack cluster and posting a harness question.
Appreciate the help in advance.
