Just made recent news with Nissan's new hybrid 3-cylinder engine they are putting into their 24 hr Le Mans race car.

According to the article, "This will make it the first race car in history to complete a lap in a sanctioned form of motorsport with zero emissions."

Big ups to Nissan for developing something new like this.

It's so light that NISMO's chief Shoichi Miyatani can lift it up.

Put it in the IDX? Thats one way to beat the FRS' much lauded weight distribution...

The pic of him holding it looks photoshoped.

He's trying to smile, but that strained look on his face really says "This shit is heavy!"

Weight is 88 pounds for the motor. Somewhat heavy, but should be doable for some but not all.

That because it is.

Probably like a turbo Triumph Daytona 675r on steroids.

Good question... for the power it makes I would expect a very tight, even, finely-tuned exhaust note. What if it just sounded like a 4 cylinder running on three cylinders though? or a scooter? I hope not.

So, who's going to be the first to use 2 of these in their car?

That because it is.

If you think 88 lbs is heavy in the position he's holding it in, you need to get off the couch more often.

^^^No, he's saying the pic is photoshopped, which I can believe. Look at how his arms are bent at the elbows, as if he is easily supporting the weight versus it just sagging in his barely adequate grip. The ease of effort in his arms doesn't match to grimace on his face... lol

I cant tell if the engine is audiable in this video or not, the music kindof masks it:

It sounds sort of like the fan in my bedroom window, running on high.
