Hey guys im new to this forum and I could use some help. Im wanting to buy a 240sx. My budget is $5000, Cuase thats all i have to spend right now. I have two cars im looking at. The first one is a '90 nissan 240sx for $2900.http://images.craigslist.org/00404_4jeRv0H5VWi_600x450.jpg
heres the description of the car: car is a daily driver. highway ready. driven to AL. 400 mi. round trip since Jan. has lots of new parts, injectors, stagg struts, tires, battery and fuel pressure reg. lots of extra parts. new crome headers not installed, 2 elc. fans. to many other parts to mention. dash is in great shape no cracks at,all !! 4 speed. k24e engine.extra head, 2 intakes, rear and front strut bar braces. battery relocated to the back deck. vintage '70's datsun wheels.

Second car '90 Nissan 240sx FT for $4000: http://images.craigslist.org/00o0o_Mo3EjbCX2y_600x450.jpg
Description: I have a 1990 240sx with:
Sr20black top with t28 turbo
Gram light 16x8" rims with good falken tires
Rare and clean RSR exhaust(sounds awesome)
Jdm kouki tails
Tein Winding master coilovers in great condition
Short shifter
Old beat nardi wheel
S14 seats
Aftermarket RUCA
unknown stage 2 clutch
Turbo XS BOV
FMIC
Flex a lite fans
Cons:
-needs rear main seal
-body is ugly and beat
-cracked dash
-no power steering (but it is included with greddy pully)
-no ac
-needs front rotors
-stereo sucks
Pros:
-Passed Emissions legally
-idles smooth
-starts perfect
-good suspensions
-great tires
-no blow by
-overall a good running 240 that's just ugly

now the only reason Im thinking about the blue one is because it already has the sr20 in it as well as the t28 turbo. The only thing about it is that its 4 grand which doesnt leave me alot for fixing it up. Now if i buy the first car, would I have enough to do a sr20 swap and add the t28? Also im selling my old car in December for about $7000 to go towards the 240. I would appreciate you help :aw:

In my area, Atlanta. I cant seem to find alot of stock 240's, hardly any 240's at all in general. All I want is a nicest 240 for 5 grand then in December Ill have 7 grand to put into it. but is there something wrong about the first car ?

with the money you have you could take the time to travel out of town/state to pick up a clean car.. id do that if i had that money on hand. and yeah the first car has a major problem. a 4spd ka24e doesnt exist.

I agree, you should wait and look for better options.

I agree fully with the coments above

determine exactly what you want s13 hatch or coupe or s14...
now start patiently waiting to find a good one...
*if your down south all those states south of the carolina's sould have some nice ones no salt to rust em out .... I live in ny*

it took me about 1 1/2 years of looking before my dream coupe popped up on ebay
*one owner 93 white se COUPE FLORIDA car in NY* : ) lady bought it at 65 kept it to the end.
her son had it shipped up to his home an hour from my house
*I jumped all over it... yes it was auto but had only 90k*
I happily paid 4000 for it... everybody was trying for 3500 he was not having it....

I knew if I didnt get the car when it was there for a lilttle extra Id probly end up wasting time and money looking out of state with trailers and bs ect.... its been over a year since
ive never seen another stock coupe this nice for sale *especially in ny*

I was totally flattered when I caught a guy in a 350z trying to take a pick of it at a stop llight last week... I've noticed looks before but he's the first Ive seen snappin picks

Im gonna have to agree with everyone else. Wait till you find a DOHC 240sx Stock. It will last longer and you can learn about the car that way. To many of my friends buy them already modded and when something goes wrong your chasing ghosts trying to find what the other person did right or wrong with everything.

I went the route of a shell and built it myself, now i have a KA-T pushing 230hp and i love it.

Pile of shit owned by a ricer with a KA or pile of shit owned by drifter with SR. Either choose between the lesser of two evils or wait until you find a good one.

I also wouldn't recommend buying a modified 240 if you can't work on your own shit.

buy as stock of an s14 as you can find. trust me. you will not regreat that purchase. No modded s13s or even 14s for that matter. STOCK!

Attempting to work on your car is how you learn things. You think everyone on this forum had all the answers when they started modding? Read, study, wash, rinse, repeat. If you can't figure it out, use the tech section and the search features.

As for the cars posted, walk away from both and find something that hasn't been touched, or has been tastefully modified.

buy stock oem.... buy from california... dont buy an old car if you cant work on it your self, as a project learning how to build car and non daily buy a 240, if your buying as a daily have thousands aside for repairs and such just so it could be safe to drive, good luck with your search

That's probably a 4 speed automatic.

with 5k you could easily get a clean all original 95' including shipping to your door. You can do it with 4k if you are careful.

If you buy either one of these cars you will eventually see a clean stock one and wish you had waited.
