Tell me about it. What do you guys think would look best with that matte black? Removing the shitty ass green nissan and monster logos as well. They're making it look like a god damn clown car...

Plan with the car. Get non ugly wheels, coils, and a bunch of tires while I learn how to drift with the welded diff. If I decide to keep the KA, I'll turbo it. Otherwise, I'll be swapping a JZ. But in the mean time, what do you guys think would be a decent tire/rim setup with the matte black until I do some more exterior work in the future.

it needs jdm stickers, zipties for more hp and to be slammed to hell. oooh dont forget the stripped rear interior to make it suuuuper daily.

on a more serious note though go oem for now, lower it and do research on wheel setups, and companies you prefer.

Lol you're trolling me. I understand it's a shitty ass looking car but that doesn't mean I'm going to redo it shitty.

Thanks. And yeah I've been trying to look for some matte black s13 hatchs but I can't seem to find one that also has a chuki front. Any recommendations on gallery-type places to scroll through?

thank you for catching on hahaha. will it be a track car or a daily? this determines if a welded is a smart choice my man.

Well I was going for daily. Everyone in my location has their fast drag cars but absolutely nobody does drifting. Hoping I can be the ugly duckling of the bunch. Not hard core drifting exactly, just some weekend fooling around.

google is your best friend... color shouldnt be an issue though buy any car, sand her down, fill the dents, and paint it black. chuki fronts arent hard to find either. buy a 91-93 hatch and they come with that front bro

daily? then save for a vlsd and when you track it keep a welded laying around change em out. a welded for daily driving will eat tires man! unless you got money to blow every 3 months or sooner depending on how much slide time you do

The picture I linked is the car I'm going this weekday to pick up actually. It already has a welded dif, 95 ka24de rebuilt, and tranny 20k miles. In the future I wanna go 180sx aero but I wanna get a feel for drifting so I don't fuck up a fancy looking ride while I'm still a learning noob.

ho much are you paying for this car? it looks like an 89,or 90. with a cuki front? has no extensions so that seems weird.... also a dual cam from an s14? keep in mind s13 dual cams and s14 dual cams are slightly different so if you buy parts for the motor make sure its specifically for the s14 ka. exhausts and such will be for s13 of coarse.. depending on price id wait a bit and get a slightly cleaner car since itll be both your daily and track car. spending more time on the road and less under the hood is usually the goal of a daily driver...

im feeling for you my man....anyway you can send me the link from craigs? is that the only picture of the car? whats the interior look like? whats it missing. im assuming you might be new to nissans so take a picture or google a picture of a completely stock motor bay of a 91-94 s13. now loo at that cars engine bay, whats missing? does it have any problems starting up? shifting gears? you gotta ask yourself these things when getting a 240 because next to civics, 240sx's are usually done waaaay wrong and sold because the owner can fi what they fucked up. also know to most as the "unfinished project" or "have no more time for it" excuse lol

1990 240sx nissan (http://stlouis.craigslist.org/cto/4259922090.html)

Yeah you def are right. I'm pretty new to this. The issue is everyone in my area either pays to ship their car for a tune-up or has no clue about nissans. :/ Thanks though man for the advice.

IMO id keep looking and save up a bit.. but go down there and check it out. tell the guy you have the money (and im assuming you do) test drive it and see how it feels and ask if there is "ANYTHING AT ALL'' wrong with it. looking at it now with some work this car can become clean but that all depends on time and your budget. if youre also new to working on cars the less molested the car the better if its a daily. i got truley into cars when i was 15 and bought my first civic used her as a daily and modded her here and there then bought a 240 a year later to learn how to work on cars and how they work the plus with that is no matter how bad you mes up the second car youll never have to worry about being carless. xD just some ideas for you my man. also make google and car meets your best friends. research a ton so when you walk into a situation you're not in the dark with anything. buying a used car off someone who knows the buyer knows nothing abut cars is dangerous because now they can basically explain any issue with the car with a false answer. this site can be usefull as well for learning shiiiz but be prepared to be trolled up the yiiiinger if you post or ask something thats been explained 1 billion times. preventing that is as easy as usig the search function.

Damn man, I really appreciate it. There was one issue with the car when i tested it, it like skipped when turning hard slowly in a circle. The guy had NO clue what the issue was. He says he didn't do anything lol. I go home and googled the skipping issue and it is just from the welded diff supposedly. The plus is he has other people do stuff for him and just places everything in himself and did his little shitty decal/paint exterior work, plus the dif. The cool part tho is he hasn't done TOO much. I just wanted something with no rust and drivable. As funny as it is, the carpet is so fuckked that we could lift it and see that there is no rust under it Hahahahaha. Anyways though, I plan on persuing it and hoping it lasts a while. If all is good, I'll be turboing it before I make it pretty. Otherwise, I'm gonna do a JZ or RB swap then make it pretty. I appreciate the help man. I got work tomorrow. Hope you have a good one and I'll be considering everything you say when I drive 3.5 hours to grab the car and give my final offer. Pictures to come with my project. Peace.

$3100 for that piece of shit? If your plan is to swap in an RB/JZ...why buy an ugly/old ass chassis? I paid $2500 for an 95 S14 and even then, I still think I overpaid for it.

:stupid:
$3100 is too much for a stock, ragged out S13. I wouldn't pay more than $2000 for something in that condition. Probably more like $1500 if it has a KA24e...

But like everyone else said: Do your research, set a realistic budget, save save save and do it right the first time.

You don't need a turbo KA or JZ engine to learn how to drift. Learn on the N/A, decide what engine you want after you've outgrown the KA. If you're trying to slam the car with even the cheapest yet nice looking wheels AND do a JZ swap... you're in the $10k+ budget range.

Just do maintenance, suspension, wheels, LSD and get out there. Don't make it harder than it needs to be.

If you have a hard time finding a clean 240 at the right price, maybe consider switching platforms to a Miata. They're even cheaper to maintain and build.

Oh and BTW... I 'accidentally' bought those same wheels back when I was new in the 240 scene as well. Motegi MR7's. 18x7+42... Talk about shiiiiiiiiiity! My recommendation is to seek out a simple, beginners setup like 17x9 fronts with 17x10 rears or better.

That car looks gross, $3100 is too much, keep the motor stock until you're good at drifting.

Shit I'd find a whole different car. Find a cleaner stock one for less. $3100 is too much.
