I have been using the agx adjustables on stock springs on my s14 se and I have been going through them every 3 years. Its just a daily driver. I keep replacing them because they have the full warranty so I am just paying for labor and alignment each time but its still expensive. So was wondering is there anything that would last longer? I used Gr2's and they were crap.. didn't last a year.

Outside of koni adjustables, what you have is pretty much the best offering.

Paying for labor and alignments every three years isn't what I would call "expensive".

You can look into Koni or try to import Bilstein ones from Europe or Australia but it'll be more $$$.

I've never used agx but I've never read anything about them consistantly dying after 3 yrs, especially on stock springs. Maybe your problem is somewhere else?

All the 240's i've ridden with that had gr2's with over 100k on them still rode very nicely.

This thread should probably be locked.

Also to add to it though I had NISMO S-Tune Lowering Springs/Strut Combo on my old s14 setup, shit was awesome to drive on, and good enough for spirited driving.

I had AGX's with s-techs on my S13 FOREVER... Can't imagine what would make them need replacing every 3 years on an S14. They were great for what they were...

Whatever you do though, don't switch to Tokico Blues... They are shit. ABSOLUTE SHIT, my man.

People are still using shock & spring combos? I honestly thought I was reading a thread from 2002 just now.

I'm running GR-2 up front and AGX in rear with RS*R springs. Has been a great setup for me the past few years, but it's time for coilovers.

Yeah, typically when someone asks me about struts & springs, I tell them to save their money for coils of their liking. Strut/spring combos are such a waste of time.

Well Idk.. Its been a very expensive car to maintain and anyone that knows me knows that I baby it. I've never raced it and the only mods it has are spl tc rods, z32 front brakes and jic strut bar. I got it in '97 and the rear shocks were already making noise as well as front wheel bearing. I replaced them with agx's and mostly ran them on the middle setting. They starting making lot of noise in abt 3 yrs. So after that I got gr2's and they were terrible and they were shot in a year again with normal driving. I went back to the Agx's and I stretched them out to 3.5yrs and my mechanic told me they were weak which I knew that before. I've hit a curb hard one time, other than that its just been getting rear ended which has happened at least 4 times now. I even try to drive around any type of pot holes if I can.. It gets expensive when u constantly have leaks and other issues. I just replaced turn signal switch a month ago which I have never seen go out on any car...
