When the rpm gets to ~3000rpm-3500rpm there is a vibration/noise that occurs which seems to be coming from the bellhousing area. If I rev past 3000rpm-3500rpm, the noise dissappears. It sounds like rocks tapping on the transmission dust shield. This happens at idle and while driving. I let a friend step on the gas and keep it at the 3000rpm while I looked at the motor for any problems, and there are no visible signs. The sound seems to be coming from the back of the motor/transmission (firewall area). The motor was pulled out recently. I thought the problem could have been a loose pressure plate or clutch, but it wasn't. The pressure plate bolts were tight. I'm assuming my problem may be rod knock or a bad crank bearing. Anyone have any inputs to this?
