I have to shake my key to turn on my car everytime, will switching out the switch itself with a new key solve my problem?

Does the key easily open the doors and trunk? If so then get a new cylinder.

Because Florida.

What do you mean "shake" your key? Like you hafta cycle it a few times in the cylinder before the starter will crank?

Most likely it is a worn contact in the cylinder, but they're pretty easy to replace.

Since brndck is so lost let me clarify what I'm trying to say. Key to engine start, nothing, key to engine start but I shake the key around in there, it turns on perfect. Thank you Cody always helping me out can't wait to get your external wastegate setup on my stock exhaust manifold

Was that not helpful?
There's just so many common sense threads here. Hey my window switch doesn't work, should I replace it? Hey my left brake light doesn't work, should I check the bulb? Hey I don't have any fuel pressure, should I check if my fuel pump is getting voltage?

Hey if I put the key in the cylinder and turn it to the crank position and nothing happens, should I check continuity in the cylinder?

I would just go get a used one. You can probably find one on the marketplace for like $25

There's a one in eight chance your key will work in it anyways or you can always have a locksmith re-key it.
