swaping to e85

Alright so before i swap over i have a question, how should i go about the tank full of regular gas. Could i just run it out until it kills itself then fill it up with a can to get me to the gas station? Kinda a dumb question but thats about the only way i can think of doing it. Also doing it this way im sure the fuel pump wouldnt pick up all of the fuel. Would that little bit mixed with e85 affect anything? I plan on running an enthalpy tune.

Got tuned by him in person (enthalphy)
All he did was use a hose with a fuel pump attached to siphon The gas out.
He tuned it on e85 and my air fuel ratio has remained fairly similar after more that 20 trips to the pump.

I have a dual tune for e85 and 91, i runn my tank as low as possible and then fill with the new fuel. FOr that tank i run the car easy until its all used up, then i refill again and run it hard.. You shouldnt run too hard if its partially mixed, but regular driving i doubt youll notice.

Or, go to harbor freight, spend a whopping $4 on a siphon pump (it's a long clear tube with a squeeze ball in the middle), pull the fuel pump cover, and siphon your tank out.

I bought one from oriellys and I couldn't get it to work. The thing had a leak in it. Now your asking me to get another? Shesh. Like I'm made of money.

I actually live about 1 mile from my e85 station. So i run my tank to E, fill up with e85 and then limp home.. once i get home i swap my ecu chips and viola.

I have switched plenty of times from 91 to e85 and drove home with the wrong fuel for the tune, just to swap out chips.. So if you drive nice and run the tank to E again after you have mixed you will be fine..

As to the guy that recommended taking off the fuel pump cover, thats not a good idea due to the oring in there that he would then have to replace and consequently continue to replace if he did that every time

i've never had to replace it and never had an issue, and have done quite a few s13 fuel pump replacements.

When I put my walbro in I didn't swap the gasket. No issues have appeared because of that...

But I plan on going to e85 and staying on it. I don't dd my 240. I wish I could but I'm lucky to keep it running for more than a week at a time :squintd:
Next mod always has me tearing it apart and not enough time to finish it then it sits for a while until I get motivated.

I'm not alone in experiencing that ring swelling up and being damn near impossible to reuse.

Ace hardware sells the exact size o-ring for boats.

Just walk in with the old and match it up .

Another super easy way to do this is to simply remove your return line from your fuel pressure regulator and attach a hose to the regulator and run the other end to a gas can.

Then just start the car up and let it idle. Instead of returning the bypassed fuel to the tank, it will go into the gas can.

This is how we do all of the E85 conversions here at the shop while cars are on the dyno.
