i wired up some maxima fans in my car and wanted to wire up a switch so i could turn them on and off. i wired the fans up using the stock wiring so this will be the same if you want to just switch on the stock electric fan. wiring in the switch was even easier than i thought, in the end, cause i had to figure out how to do it.
supplies you will need:
6' of 18 gauge wire, 20 would also be fine. a cord from a turbografx 16 will work if you don't feel like going to the store (i know this for a fact).
a switch pretty much anything will work as long as it can handle at least 2 amps
tools
philips screwdriver to take interior apart
wire cutters/strippers
soldering iron and solder or connectors
drill or whatever you need to mount the switch
1. mount the switch wherever you want.
2. run one wire from the switch to ground.
3. run the other wire to the ecu.
4. splice the new wire into the wire that is orange w/ blue stripe and silver dashes. it is on the right side tenth up from the bottom.
5. that's it.
the fan will come on when the ignition is turned on and the switch is on. btw, this is for an S13 but i bet the S14 is the same way, not sure about the wire color though.
