Are the ones from j-30s a perfect fit? If not, what modifications?

Perfect fit, if I remember PSI right. You can also order the 240sx VLSD from <a href="http://www.unstable-hybrids.com" target='_blank'>http://www.unstable-hybrids.com</a> for round three hundredish as well.

LSDs started in '91, there's no rhyme or reason on whether you have one or not, though you can check via your car's number code if you know the code <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

The only model it was stock on was the LE. ABS and LSD are tied together as a package.

How good are these VLSD's? &nbsp;I heard LSD's cost a lot of money to install.

Actually it wasn't standard on any S14 from what I recall. It was an option that you could get either with the Leather and Security package, or the ABS/VLSD package. Rob's '97 LE doesn't have either ABS or VLSD. I can't believe the jump he made. '92 with ABS/VLSD and HICAS, to a '97 with no ABS/VLSD and no HICAS.

is VLSD the viscous one? if so then it just keeps both wheels spinning with a fluid
when one wheel spins too fast, it makes the fluid in the VLSD spin fast too, the friction makes the fluid expand and harden or something like htat, which presses two plates together, the two plates lock ur wheels on either side to spin at the same speed...
now can someone explain to me how LSD works? hehe

A little off-topic, but does anyone know the final drive ratio of the 240<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>?

Yeah, the 91-94 had a ratio of 4.08:1 and the 89-90 are 4.11:1.

I would assume the 91-94 would be the same as the 95+.

BlankFlip...The model ID number is on the vehicle identification plate. &nbsp;I know in my '96 if you are facing the front of the car, it is on the firewall on your left hand side, just back behind the intake manifold. &nbsp;Go here to check on how to decode it.
