TOOLS! need help on what to get!

Well im about to get a Snap On MG725 impact from what i understand it requires 5.2 CFM at 90psi and 4.0 CFM at 40psi. I dont need an air compressor with a super huge tank i just need to for the really stubborn bolts i cant get by hand. what do you guys think of this compressor to power te mg725. (im a noob at air tools)

You can by snap on, but craftsman will work and u will save some money. If your a mechanic buy snap on. My suggestion is to save some dollars and invest it in some good sockets and wrenches. I wished I bought a plasma cutter before I purchased a welder. Just trust me and your neighbors will thank you.

Not a mechanic but tired of these axle nuts kicking my ass and after this build I plan on building another car in another year. That's only reason why I'm considering the snap on and air comp most other bolts are no problem for a breaker bar but I snapped my bracket bar trying to get the front able nut of my s14 lol it was a craftsmen so o got another one for free thankfully

Get 1/2"cordless impact from Milwaukee or IR. Much more power ,nicer and portable.

You can get a fine electric impact for cheaper than that, and not have to worry about a compressor. With compressors, you need a lot of space, and many hundreds of dollars to spend, before you're looking at anything that's even worth it's weight in shit.

Also, I don't believe snap-on makes their own air tools.

And beyond air tools, you might consider that there's multiple brands that are as good in quality as snap-on. Duralast, auto zone's house brand, has a lifetime guarantee for just about all tools, and well made forged tools - I've never been able to make one qualify for replacement.

Invest in a nice IR air gun if you have the money for a compressor. Electric impacts won't even touch my mg325 the 3/8 version of the mg725. I have the mg725 and for the money I would have gotten an IR 1/2 instead. Certain models are a little more powerful but I haven't encountered any stubborn bolts that the 725 can't take off.

725 is still top of the line hu? I have one, and all i can tell u is that on my 80gal 2 cycle husky it's real snapper. Just get a smaller rolling single tank horizontal compressor, like a 20 or 30 gal, u will still have plenty of power with that impact, u wont be working on 18 wheelers right?

More powerfull, lighter and cheaper than IR. Only down side is it need to be oiled like 3x a day. Very inconvient if used by techs but ok for garage and personal use.

I have a craftsman cordless (1/2 drive) and it has broken loose axle nuts, bolts/nuts for the suspension arms that connect to the rear knuckle, and overly tightened wheel nuts...haven't had a problem with it except for when it needs to be charged. It doesn't take a long time and you don't have to charge it often but it is inconvenient when you've forgotten to.

Yes they will . They have 780 ftlbs of torque. Not many 1/2" air impact can reach that. I've been using more cordless tools than pneumatic on mechanical work. No airline to mess with. You can go everywhere with them.

The air cats are good even if you never oil them. Source: I work on a farm, and we use a lot of impact guns. Usually if the gun won't get it we use blue tongue lol.

The most powerful cordless electric impacts are only around 300-400ft-lbs.

My IR is 600ft-lbs and it's not even the IR Titanium. It destroys pretty much everything I've thrown at it.. like cutting warm butter.

Your IR pneumatic has 600 ftlbs and this IR cordless has 780ftlbs. 180 ftlbs difference
